apple mac users....HELP!

ok so i have a question for apple mac users..
i want to purchase a macbook, so do i need an airport system to connect to my DSL modem? im so confused as to whether or not it is absolutely necessary for me to get an airport system to be able to use my macbook.. please help! :[

we have three macs (two macbook pros) in our house and we don't use anything special... I thought the same thing as you! (that the airport system was built in) we have high speed through our cable company as well..

We don't use anything special for ours. We have a Mac Mini, a Powerbook and a Macbook.

i have no clue! they have this thing called airport extreme http://www.apple.com/airportextreme/ and i didn't know if i absolutely need this, or if i can just use the wi-fi connection from our modem?? we have a desk top PC with a modem, and i connect my laptop via wi-fi from the modem... im so lost!! haha

It's nice to see we aren't the only Mac-nerds. Haha. Only one PC in the entire house.

No need for the airport. It is more for people who are needing way more power and speed (I believe...like gaming or movies, etc.).

haha. I'm a Mac. ; ] (I love those stupid commercials!) SO and I both grew up with PC's but when we moved in together 3 years ago, we ''accidently'' went to an apple store and FELL IN LOVE! I'll never buy another PC! Ever! haha.

yeah i used my friend's macbook, and fell in love instantly! haha that's why im shopping for a macbook now :]

my SO is a super gamer and he's constantly downloading/watching movies on our macbook pro without any problems with slow internet... we just run regular wi fi.

you can connect it the same way as your normal pc laptop. I bought an airport b/c in my building the modem/router wasn't cutting it and the thing is awesome.

exactly! haha my friend was like "it doesn't run as fast as it used to" shoot her laptop runs faster than mine did when it was brand new!!! haha and she has an old macbook...

hehe alright. ill just buy the macbook. and if i need to, ill buy the airport extreme later. i just didn't know if it was necessary to make the internet connection work. haha we'll see how it works without it first.. :] thanks ladies for all your help!
