Please HELP!!

posted 3rd Nov
My 17 month old has been AWFUL with eating lately! Just tonight I made a dinner of his favorite foods (spaghetti, chicken and broccoli) and he absolutely refuses to eat it. Will not even put it in his mouth. I tried for almost 40 minutes to get him to eat ( and I KNOW he's hungry...) and all he did was scream and throw food at me. I am about to just send him to bed hungry, because I refuse to be a mother that cooks two meals!

My 2 year old daughter has been acting like that lately. A few nights she went to bed hungry because she refused to eat anything! It drives me nuts when I can't get that kid to eat!

My son does that too sometimes i will make him something he asks for then he will not eat it. Usually i just save it for later and try it like an hour later. I would say just let him go to sleep like that its not going to hurt him if its one day you know? Then if he keeps doing it tomorrow keep trying ever hour. If that doesnt work then i would call his pedi.

I'd give him a cup of milk and send him to bed. If he's hungry enough, he'll eat

Why would you want to send your child to bed hungry? I mean, sure, that might have been his favorite food THEN (heck, even yesterday) but that doesn't mean it's his favorite NOW. Kids' tastes for food changes constantly. Try something else. (DefinitelyNOT saying your a bad mom...just saying)

Thats my opinion too! If they don't eat then they don't want to eat and there is nothing you can do about it.
Give them milk and if they get hungry late give him food or if its in the night give him another cup of milk.
Could be teething or tummy upset...no point stressing over something you can't control

Because they do not want to eat...could be more than they don't like the food

Could be they are sick...do you eat when you feel sick? Its human nature to not eat when your tummy is upset if you do it only last longer.

Sending your kid to bed without food for 1 night doesn't make you a bad mom. The kid needs to learn that they can't always get to choose what they want to eat.

Well I was refering to what her post said. Yeah if your sick most people don't eat but it didn't say her child was sick therefore that was my reply.

Not always do children show signs of being sick they may not simply feel right...so you never know

Also as mentioned a kid has to learn when food is offered you eat it.

Because he won't eat and is screaming anytime food is near him

Sorry, but I'm the kind of mom that refuses to cater to a child that is just being incorrigible. In other words, I'm not kissing his ass. If he's really that hungry, he will eat.

I think the problem tonight was that he was exhausted, so I gave him a sippy cup of milk, bathed him, and put him to bed. Tear free.

So, go ahead, pull the bad mom card on me. Make my day
