re: monkey backpack leash/harness

oh i know that, but everyone refers to them as a leash so people really dont say a saftey harness. They call it a leash.

  I know.
I plan on teaching him to hold my hand at all times. But you never know what could happen. There was a little boy who was kidnapped while his mom was looking in her purse. He was tortured and murdered. I bet she would give anything to have had him on a "leash". You know?
I guess abduction is my worst parental fear, so it helps me.

I'm sorry but i use discipline with my kids but i have 1 child that is way more adventurous than the other. So yes i need one for one child but not the other.I hve to cross 5 major roads to just get to the local shop so hell if my child has to be harnessed up so be it i would rather do that than her be run over by a car

I dicipline Ethan, he understands what NO means and what dont touch means, but he still has the wondering mind of a toddler.

I feel it would be safer for me to use it in a busy place, rather than not, and for something to happen to him. He usually listens really well, but you guys know how tolders are.

I know i shouldnt care what other people think, but it still at some point bothers me. I know what i thought about the harnesses before i became a mother. I thought they were stupid and cruel, but now as a mother of a toddler, i understand what they were made for. Thank you girls for all your input..

You're not going to please everyone.

People will either complain that you're an awful mommy because you've got a "leash" on your kid or people will complain that you're an awful mommy because you let your kid run wild through the mall.

I've watched my brother chase his 19 month old daughter through the mall and through the streets--he's always chasing her. Poor dude. Mostly, it's funny to watch, but sometimes it gets dangerous.

I did break down and suggest that he should put her monkey backpack/harness on her when she gets overly rambunctious. He seemed to think it was funny to put his kid on a leash--but honestly, it's better than the alternative if the worst case scenario is that she gets hit by a car, right?

At the end of the day, you're the momma.
You get to decide what is best for your baby.
Lucky you!

Isn't that what all preschools/kindergartens do when they need to take the kids out somewhere?

Oh, up here they use a rope with knots in it. Each kid holds on to a knot and there's an adult at either end. It works well for keeping everyone together.
