posted 3rd Nov
How labor and delivery has changed from the 30's, to the 60s, to now? I have an essay to do.
Thanks,
Haley.

I was talking to my grandma today about her birthing, one there were no ultrasounds, and the other thing she said was they used to knock people out with ether before labor for the pain.

My Grandmother had 4 babies from 1955-1966. She said with the first two they used to completely knock them out. She just woke up, and there was baby. Then with her last child (my mom), she finally got an epidural.

That would be terrible. I would NEVER want to be knocked out...its a life changing experience.

Okay thanks! Yeah that's ridiculous that they did that....

i actually saw a show this morning and it said that people in the 60's they were given this mediciation (dont member the name) but that it would completely put them to sleep becaus ethey didnt want to know anything about there experience... it also said most mamas would wake up and not know if the had a boy or girl or if they even had there baby.. that most of them would choose to get the mediciation.. but that babies would come out really depressed so after a while they stop giving it to them...

lol if I thought the baby wouldnt have side effects i would have NO beef about being knocked out.
I didn't find it to be life changing or anything spirtitual. I was really expecting it to be but all it was was pain and work and I was like Ok glad thats over, now clean that sucker off and give em to me!!!
