Labor Story... the jist

I tried writing out a detailed labor story but, not only was it extremely long (what I got finished), I couldn't handle writing it. Don't get me wrong, I love my son and he's the greatest thing that's ever happened to me but getting him here is something painful for me to relive. I was emotionally, physically, and mentallybroken. I wanted to do so much more for him.

I went into labor on the 21st (wed) at 41 weeks and 2 days. Contractions started about 6am. Went to the hospital about 6pm I still had a LONG way to go. I labored through the next 2 days with back labor and ended up getting pitocin and an epi on Fri evening (the 23rd) and my perfect son was born Sat the 24th at 3:19am weighing in at 7lbs 11oz and measuring 20 1/2 in long. He really is perfect   They turned the epi way down a couple hours before he was born so I began pushing on my own and was never told when to push. I pushed for just under an hour, delivered on my side ( I could move my own legs). I thank god they turned down the epi (I was sleeping) so I could feel my son being born. It KILLS me that I have a child and have no idea what transition feels like, I can't imagine how I'd feel if I couldn't feel the birth of my son.

And don't be so hard on yourself... there's no reason that you shouldn't be utilizing medication when your body needs it. I have to be induced due to a medical condition... drugs are there for a reason.

Yeah, that's understandable. But the birth is over. You can focus on the rest of his life now. You have plenty of chances to do all you can do for him!

You brought him into the world, I think you did pretty well. Enjoy your baby!The birth is like a wedding, once it's over it's nothing compared to when comes next.  

I agree...who cares how he got here, he is healthy and happy and so are you. You are beyond blessed. What more could you ask for? Congrats Tif!

I'm definitely looking forward to it   i sit and stare at him and just wonder what the future looks like

Just know you already did above and beyond what most people do. You did all you could do. And you had great reasons to do what you did, so don't regret anything!

Yeah, I think that's always hard no matter what. It gets a little easier each day, I think. It's nice to have maternity leave to spent with them, at least. How long do you have?
