how much?

posted 3rd Nov
My boyfriend and I are going to be TTC soon. I am not saying now. Soon for us is within the next 5 years. We have started saving for when the baby comes to make sure we a financially ready. But we are skeptical on how much money we should really have saved up. Any ideas? thanks mamas!

I didn't save nothing before getting pregnant. I've shopping Craigslist and I've shopped cheap things since I've been pregnant and put a little money away here and there for things I think I might need later on.

I heard a good idea after I had my daughter, when you find out your pregnant or when you start TTC buy a pack of diapers every pay check. I wish I would've done it

She's just asking for a starting point, not how much a baby will cost its entire lifetime.

You can never have enough saved up for a child. Bc unexpected things always happen. What happens if you have a sickly child? There will be more money going out.
In reality, can you afford diapers, forumla (if you aren't bf) and just in general another mouth to feed?
Also, think of day care. ARe you going to work. Who will watch baby? Or will you be a SAHM.

We were waiting until we were "financially stable" for our second. But one night, we realized, we will never be 100% stable. No one ever is.

Make a list of all the stuff you will need, look up how much the stuff costs. and total it all.

& do like Reggie said and buy a pack of diapers w/each paycheck. & wipes, they go almost as fast at the diapers .

I was thinking of adding wipes to that post! LoL I couldn't believe how many we went through our first month alone! It would be nice to know what kind of formula your kids will like but you can't   Luckily my LO isn't picky and I can get the members mark from sams. Althought I am grateful for all the items we received at my baby shower, we got tons of clothes and that's about it. Even though my registry didn't have one bit of clothing listed. I just had diapers, bath stuff, and wipes.

The way I total it up I use a can and a half of formula a month (the kind from Sam's) that's $20 and I'm not sure on diapers yet (we are on our last pack of diapers given to us) but if you buy a box from Sam's that's another $30.
