Should I worry?

posted 3rd Nov
DS is almost 11 weeks. He's been doing this a while, but I have never really noticed it happening enough to be troublesome. He buries his nose when he sleeps. When he goes to sleep in my arms he buries his nose into my shoulder, neck, etc.. if he cannot, he squirms and screams untill he can find somewhere to properly bury his nose. When I lay him in his crib, on his side, He tries to hide his nose in the mattress, or if he can't do that, he wiggles over to the bumper to bury his nose into the bumper. This has started to scare me, so I removed said bumper, he buries his nose into mattress again.

I try to lay him on his back, he SCREAMS. (he hasn't figured out how to roll over all together yet.)
he puts his fist over his nose and cries out and then wakes himself up completely.

Anyone else have a baby with this habit? I can't seem to get him to stop and I am worried about him suffocating himself. .

Try laying him on his tummy in the first place.

Can you swaddle him so he can't do that?

My daughter does that sometimes but not all the time. Mainly when I'm holding her she'll burry her nose/face into my armpit area. She sleeps w/a blanket by her face though, its an afagan(sp?) so it has holes, I don't worry about that much.

My LO does the same thing! No matter how hard I try, I can't stop her from doing it. I think its a comfort thing. IDK... I worry about it all the time, too.

I could try. Good idea. he's such a big dude that he has busted out of the SwaddleMe i bought and there is no way I can keep a regular blanket swaddled on him, but I'e wanted to try another type of swaddling blanket, because he does like to be swaddled.

I don't understand why this is even an option, since The covering of his mouth and nose is what I am trying to prevent, and when I put him on his tummy, his face goes right into the mattress.

He's about to be eleven weeks, on Thursday. I had been cosleeping and using the crib for naps, but last night I put him in his crib and he did really well but every time I went in there to check on him, his nose was covered again. =/
I really want this crib sleeping to work. He did so well, Im just bothered by the nose thing!

Yeahh I see how you could be worried. You said he's not old enough to where he can roll yet, but he can move around? Cause if so, it might not be a big deal, seeing as he might move away if he cant breathe..

Maybe! He wiggles. He's a furious wiggler. LOL
he does this fast side-to-side thing, almost like crawling sideways? so weird!!
Thanks for your input, i really wasn't trying to come across as a bitch, but more than one person has taken me that way today!
