Yea i don't get all the Canadian maternity laws. I like them, just don't get them! I would love to have a year with Zane and not lose my job! I would love to not have to come back next year! I do kinda want to find another job, i love teaching but it's very stressful where i teach. But i love having so much time off with Zane. I mean i get the summer off paid.. so can't beat that.

Teaching is great with the holidays   I dont get that cause obviously 911 is 24/7.
Canadian Maternity works the way it does because of all the taxes we pay. If you work enough hours to qualify you get one year and 50% of your wages. I get $860 every two weeks for 52 weeks, then I need to work atleast a year to get another year off. They also cant take your job away if you leave for Parental reasons. Thank God to the women who fought for this! A few years ago you only got 6 months off.

I was reading up on what you guys were talkin about and I worked at a hotel as a banqute server part time when I was pregnant. and I was put on strict bedrest at 36 weeks and when I had her they wanted me to come back to work 2 weeks pp! And I told them my doctor wouldnt release me untill I was at least 6 weeks pp and they threw a fit about it but couldnt do anything. So when I was released to go back the day after I gave them my doctors note they fired me for taking "personal" leave when I didnt have the time to take.
