Stretch Marks or Varacose Veins?

This might sound stupid but ..

How can you tell the difference between Stretch Marks and Varacose Veins? I have purple marks on my back and theighs ( they don't itch like stretch marks do apparently ) and they only really show up when I get cold or I don't have cream slathered all over it..

Stretch marks are generally kind of shiny and like a light light color. Varicose veins are dark purple and blue-ish.

Google for images of both and decide which one looks closest to what you have?

Actually, you're thinking of spider veins. The way you can tell is that stretch marks have texture, and spider veins are under the surface. Vericose veins are painful and bulge out due to improper bloodflow.

I guess they most look like the stretch marks... I can't tell!! Their purpley blueish -- actually now that I look back they look a lot like the spider veins..

Does anyone know the cause of spider veins? Is it lack of exercise? I've been kind of lazy I guess for the last little while I'm just so tired!

yup there with you forever, but they do turn a light silver color.

I can handle them being a light sliver color just not purple! I have a scar on my tummy from where I had surgery a while back and I think its beginning to split open =S

i hope not, have you talked to your doc about it?

I'm going in on Thursday ( quickest they could book me in ) I just keep putting creams on it and drinking LOADS of water .. trying to help my skin out a bit
