his parents arent together.. his sister and her So just broke up (they havea 2 year old daughter) so i guess he thinks his relationship is going to fail and he doesnt want that

are they married? he can't justifynot having kids based on other peoples relationships, thats not even a good way to go about it let alone its a really shitty argument. It would be the same thing as "I don't want to have kids until the economy is back in good standing." or "I don't want to have kids till I can afford it"(in that instance you will never have them)there is no logic, and no sense in the excuses sorry thats just my opinion.
