I don't even see it as a drunk person issue. More of a 'these people have the kind of stress only people who are trained to kill and support those who do' can have. They deserve to blow off steam without worrying about a person the size of a canned ham being there too.

I even somewhat agreed with the OP about bringing an infant. I just don't agree with bringing older children and letting them party the night away. I guess that makes me unworthy of being a parent.

No, i'm right there with ya. If we were going this year, i'd bring Lucy with me. We never stay long anyways, We eat, chat and then go relax. So what would be the problem with bringing her? i would NOT leave her with random childcare people...
