she seems convinced that Alexander and Aleczander would be pronounced differently. I'm not sure how you could but whatever.......it's not my kid and clearly my opinion is of very little importance. to me it's the same pronunciation but one is spelled in a classic way and one is spelled in a made up way.

Do you pronounce your sons name Al-eck-zander? Probably not, because that is how Aleczander is pronounced. I'm assuming you pronounce is Alex-zander. One has an "Eck" sound while the other has the "Ex". It isn't an issue of spelling. Aleczander is spelled correctly. They are two different names pronounced two different ways. It seems like you aren't understanding that.

are you kidding me?
I don't know anybody named Alexander who pronounces it Alex-Zander. That's so choppy. if you want to get down to the nitty gritty it is actually pronounced Al-Eck-zander.........that's why Alec is a common nickname for Alexander.

So you are actually the one that mispelled the name. Alexander is Alex-ander. Which is why ALEX is the more common nickname for it.

Trust me, I'm basically an expert of fucked up spellings and I can tell you that while not normal here in the states, Aleczander is definitely not a made-up spelling. Alec and Alek are more more common than alex is in eastern European countries like Russia and the Slavic countries. I think it has to do with their accent, but it's definitely not made up, lol. If it was, you can trust me that I would be the first one jumping on her. The sad part is, people make up such crappy stuff these days that perfectly legit, ethnic spellings, such as this, get looked at as being crap when they are, in fact not.

Who cares if it's my post or not? I'm being ridiculous? I don't mispronounce my childs name.
Now tell me my kid has a ridiculous made up name, just because it's not something you see everyday.
