The NERVE of some people...

Ok so I am a part time manager of a small clothing store, and a few days ago I had a customer in getting an outfit. She had to dress up to present her senior ethics paper in college. When I asked her what it was about she said it was about selective abortion and genetics. When I asked her what that meant, she said "Well i believe that if the technology were there, that mothers should under go required genetic counseling to see if their child will have or already has a chronic illness that will cause them life long problems. If so, they should have an abortion. This will not only create a healthier society, it will lower insurance costs for us healthy americans. Then we wouldn't have to pay to take care of adults with down syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis and we could get rid of BCMH." I was APPALLED. I finally told her that my son has Type-1 Diabetes, a CHRONIC lifelong illness, and she looked at me and said "And it's a financial drain huh?" I was so mad, I told her I could no longer assist her in my store and if she needed help, I would find someone who could assist her.

Seriously, who does she think she is!?

She lacks a sensitivity chip. Nothing more. Nobody has the right to play God and deem who is acceptable to be born and who isn't based on genetics. Sick in my opinion.

What a lil BITCCCCCCCHHHH! I would told her to get her nose outta the air. But U might have lost ur job so.. u were good for walking away. The nerve of some people! ugh she needs to re-think her opinions. She is so mean ughhh i could go on an on... I wonder what she would have said to me about my son being born at 32 weeks and having to be in the hospital b.c of his problems. And having title 19 pay the over 100,000 dollar bill that we could never afford.

wow... im sorry that happened to you...
you shouldve told her that they DO have testing thats done while youre pregnant to see if your child is developing with and illness..
you also should have asked her how she would feel if her child was born healthy but was suddenly diagnosed with schizophrenia: a chronic lifelong illness that doesnt show up untill after your baby typically reaches school age... shoulda asked her if shed have the gall to Kill a child she'd alreayd grown to love.

What a dumbass! And I agree with the other mama, Hitler came to mind as well. I don't know how you were as calm as you were. I am sure it was very hard for you to keep calm, I personally would like to slap her!

Well regardless of her opinion that is still your job. Don't ask if you don't wanna know stuff.

Wow .... She needs to quit watching 300!!! We don't just get rid of our babies because of health or mental problems..Obviously she doesn't have a child ! If she had a child she wouldn't think that way.

My doctor tried to get me to abort my son, even into the later months. I've learned to let it roll off my back, people are idiotic, and selfish.

Or you can offer to put her out of society's misery once she develops any condition or illness that drains the healthcare system. Hitler would have LOVED her.

Honestly, its her opinion. If you don't agree with it than fine, but you asked, its not like she was trying to shove it down your throat out of no where.

I dont think you should have let it affect you doing your job. You could get fired over something like that.
