Well, thats you. When it comes to my kids, I appreciate it when people leave their nose out of it. I had people on here tell me that they hoped I had a miscarriage because it would benefit my child since he I'm apparently not fit to be a mother because of my beliefs. I got pissed and I reacted. Most of the time, I don't care, but don't talk shit about my kids.

I don't think it's necessarily the paper she's pissed about but the comment she made TO HER specifically about her son being a "financial drain".

Personally I don't think OP was being unprofessional or childish. Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion but when that person just insulted your child with thier opinion wouldn't that make you upset? If the OP yelled or argued with the women, that would be unprofessional. OP probably helped this women by giving her the mothers persective on children with disablilities and abortion that she could use for her paper.
Having a child born with a birth defect or disability uaually makes the mother more protective of them. Usually the people who would think the way OP handled things is wrong are the one who don't have a childwith a disability or birth defect. IMO standing up to these jerk offs who have these opinions, lets them know that we will not allow our children to be shoved aside or bullied.

just to be clear- my manager knows abt the incident and is not upset with me, she said i handled it as best as I could-but to just bite my tongue next time if it happens.

and i am always professional at work and have impressed several of the higher ups before. I am sure there is atleast once you have slipped of your professional podium.

She IS allowed her opnion, i never denied her thar-i didnt even tell her to shove it when i wanted to bc that is unprofessional. it was her ignorant comment on my son being a financial drain on not only myself-but her and society as well. because it wasnt about her paper then-it was a rude comment. plain and simple. while I have BCMH, I pay for 100% of my sons RX's where insurance won't pay. On average $400.00 a month, I dont use govt funds EVER. So she shouldnt assume I do and assume he is a drain to her and other tax payers as she said.

As parents of special needs children, we deal with this kind of stuff all the time.

People look at our kids as freaks, and they think that if our kids touch their kids that they will pass on this GENETIC disease.

When someone tells you that your kid is a financial drain, and pretty much lumps your kid in with just a pile of money, to you face - I think she did better than I would in a situation like that.

We go through a ton of hardships, every day.

And here we all being civil, we're not angry at the world, or damning that fake god in the sky.

I think it was just fine that she asked someone else to assist her, because if it was me, I would of had such a long long talk to her that would of ended poorly.

ugh I would have somethign to say to her if I was in the OP's situation, defiently. I don't believe in Eugenics. I get that she might not want to pay money for someone else's disability, but a mental health disability can be undetected or strike at any time and then what? kill the child/teen/adult huh?
I think we should let people do whatever they wish, aslong as it does not harm anyone else. that woman is fucking nuts.
