Nursery ideas?

posted 3rd Nov
I have NO idea how to do a nursery. I have a crib picked out and stuff but I don't know what all to get. Crib has a changing table and 3 drawers. So that's taken care of. Is a bassinet necessary? Or a cradle? What's better rockers or gliders? Swings or bouncers? I have NO idea.

One idea I like is having pictures of me and DH in the nursery so that there's always some sort of our presence in the room...idk.

Help? Please? I know I want a Pooh Bear theme, but kind of girly or pink cuz it's a girl.

I know at one time Walmart had a pink Pooh bear set and I would use a bassinet for the first few months if you plan on nursing..that way you can put baby in your room beside the bed..after it gets old enough, you can put it in its own room in the crib..but then some people prefer starting them out from beginning in crib..I would say a glider would be better than a rocker definitely and between a swing and bouncer, both are good. I got a pooh swing for $80 and a bouncer costs about $30 so you can put those on your registry if you have one. Also, they have pooh wall stickers and wall borders you can use to decorate if you don't want to paint or if you want some decorations other than the painted walls.

lol, im not really sure what youre wanting, but no, a bassinet isnt necessary, neither is a cradle. It doesnt matter rockers vs glider, its whatever you like better. I would suggest a swing- my LO didnt care for it but most babies do. She pretty much lived in a little baby papsan chair when she was a newborn.

is the baby only sleeping in the crib? If not, youll need a pack and play or bassinet to have next to the bed......

For basic furniture, A has a crib, dresser, glider, and bookcase....

Theres some girly pooh stuff out there, Ive seen it when I was looking for crib sets, hang on Ill go look.......

google "nursery" or something similar, youll see lots of pictures that might give you an idea of something you want to replicate!

The crib is like a medium wood color, not light not dark. My MIL is sending 300 for the crib and mattress and a bouncer or whatever else I can buy with 300.

The rest is coming from us I guess, and my baby shower isn't til the end of december but I'd like to get the nursery started.

I don't know if I want baby next to me or in the crib, even though I'm BFing. Not my first pregnancy, but I'll be a first time mom.

If youre BFing, I would assume theres going to be times at night you might want them next to you...... I would just plan on that.

Also, start keeping an eye out at places like Once Upon A Child, etc, for stuff thats nice and cheaper because its used!!

IMO, I would put the swing and bouncer and cheaper items for the nursery on your registry list and use the $300 to buy the crib like you were going to and either a rocking chair or glider..and maybe decorations for the nursery..the winnie the pooh decorations are all really cheap..just depends what you want in the nursery but if you are getting a shower, I would leave a majority of the smaller stuff for people to know what you are looking for and/or need.

well thats nice, and I get his point, I didnt want to when I was pregnant, but now that shes here and she goes through stuff like crazy, I dont mind getting things in good condition thats used.... your post sounded like you were a little worried about the money part of it all, and if moneys an issue (babies arent cheap!!!), then used is a good way to go, honestly.....

I would say either get a bassinett or pack n play..a bassinett is only able to be used until they reach a certain weight and outgrow it..a pack n play you can use the bassinett in the pack n play then as they get older you can use the playpen...and most come with some form of changing table that you can either leave on or take off..the cheapest you will be able to get either one will prob be about $50 new..I will say that I definitely used my bassinett and pack n play tons for the first 3-4 months..after that she was in her own room in her crib.

Well we live in TX, but our baby shower is going to be in OR because that's where we're originally from and that's where both of our families are. =/ And we're flying so it's going to be difficult.

I'm sure that DH would be more than willing to pay $50 for new things for our baby girl.
