If you were a millionaire.

posted 3rd Nov
Ok so I got my inspiration for this D&D topic from MTV Cribs.

If you were famous and had millions of dollars to spend however you pleased would you buy big houses, electronics, cars, hire cooks, nannies, make-up & hair artist ect ect ect.

OR

Would you save your money put it in savings, CDs, 401ks & have a small quaint home, a couple cars, the basic electronics, cook your own food, watch your own kids, and do your own hair and face?

I myself would pick option number two because I am not a very materialistic person. I know millions of dollars could go a long long way but I still wouldn't want to live too excentric. I like a small quaint home, it is more homey and a better place to raise a child/children. I think a huge home gives a child more "space" to stay away from their parents and have less quality time with them. I only need one or two cars because hey you can only drive one car at a time, so what the hell is sense in having then friken cars? I enjoy cooking for myself because honestly I don't like to eat out everynight so having a cook would be just that. My take on nannies is if you don't want to take care of your kids when your not at work then shit you shouldn't have had any in the first place . Hair and make-up, well I enjoy doing my own hair and makeup I rarely even go to a hairdresser. I cut and dye my own hair, wax my own eyebrows and paint my own nails. I don't wear much makeup and if I was famous I still wouldn't wear much makeup. But like I said, I am not a materialist person.

So go ahead debate and discuss this topic, I think it will be fun to hear everyone's opinions

I dunno. But when I get 1 million dollars i will let you know haha.

Actually knowing me, I would probably shop, shop, shop, and not be smart.

I would probably be somewhere in between. If I had Millions AND millions of dollars, I would definitel buy more than just a small house. But it wouldnt be a mansion. I would be a stay at home mom and cook the meals. I too, am not materialistic. Most of that money would go towards my childrens education and our future.

Option 2. My DH and I actually have discussed "what if" we won the lottery for millions before. I think aside from new cars, a house and some small luxury electronics or lives would remain very much the same. We just wouldn't be hard up financially. I would help some of my family out with the money and put money away for the kids in stocks etc.

Hmmm if I were a millionaire I would buy a decent house 5 bdrm, no point in being a family when no one sees each other. I would get my hair and nails done every 2 weeks though. I think we'd have about 3 or 4 cars between the 2 of us. I'd get somebody to cook in advance and I'd warm it up lol. I suck at cooking and would love someone to cook for me. No nanny I'd quit my job and be a SAHM and go to school FT. Alot would go to savings but I wouldn't hesitate to spend the rest. Only live once right?

I would buy a house that my family can grow in and one that is on some land all by itself. I would drive a modest car and save money as needed. The hubby would probably still work and I would put my self through school to do whatI reallly want to do.

But if we are just talking about one million dollars than that isnt enough to do the above!!I would buy a home with room to grow....and thats it.

I would be in the middle. I would pay off everything first - all our debt, the car, the house, then buy a modest house in a better neighborhood (though i would go crazy in the kitchen - the best appliances, granite countertops, etc). I would then pay off my mom's house, my MIL's house, and help my sister out with whatever she wanted.

I'd then put some away for Zane's college, wedding, etc. Then spend some on myself and our family. And invest the rest of it.

I would pick option number 2. That shit can run out if you're not smart about it! The idea of having make up artists and maids around my house just doesn't sound appealing to me, but I would probably splurge on a new wardrobe for myself and spend a lot on decorating rooms.

Seriously.

My father was telling me about a man and a wife that their whole life they saved all their money, didn't go on vaca, and didn't spend on anything frivolous. They were waiting for retirement. They worked morning until night. 3 weeks after he retired he had a stroke, and 6 months later died, the wife went not to long after. They never got to enjoy their money.

IF we won the multi million (I say mulit because a million bucks isn't that much after taxes) we've already essentially decided what to do.

We'll first pay off our parents and grandparents mortgage.
Then we'll put away 100 k in a trust fund for each kid for college/etc.
Next, we'd buy a home. Not a mansion, but FAR from a fixer upper. Pay off the whole thing, and put ten years worth of property taxes in a savings account (those fuckers add up!)
Then we'd buy new cars, pay for the rest of Daniels schooling, out fit our home, go on a vacation.
Then whatever is left over save.

That's what I would splurge on, too.

I would buy a house big enough for my family, a car for me and one for SO, set up college funds for the kids and donate $$ to St Judes, Go back to school since I would be able to afford it and work hard for more money. I would never gamble, so no stocks. Oh I would also travel at least twice a year, I would love to go to Ireland

If I was a millionaire. I would buy me a semi large home in the country and also have a vacation home at the beach and one in the mountains. I would also have me an everyday car that would be a modest but nice car (probably like a nissan or something) and then I would have a fun car, maybe like a viper. Just to play around in. And as far as cooks and nannies. I wouldn't need any of that, just maybe someone to come by once or twice a week to help me keep my home clean. But I would be a SAHM and I would love and take care of my munchkin. Oh, and I would put back more than enough to cover my kids' education. And I would spoil the shit out of them. Cause if I had millions I would be like Michelle Duggar.. lol, maybe not that many but I would have a few more!
