pumping

posted 3rd Nov
I want to start pumping a little so when we go out I can feed her with a bottle. How do I go about starting to pump? I still want to make sure there is enough for her when she wants the boobie.

How old is she? The lactation consultant told me to start when my daughter was a few weeks old, and to pump after one feeding up to half an oz to an oz once a day. Milk is supply and demand, so you don't want to make your body overproduce- that can increase your chance of blocked ducts.

ALso, since young babies eat irregularly, if my baby slept too long, sometimes I'd pump between her feedings. (but sometimes I'd have to feed it right away if she woke too early and I was still dry.)

start pumping and then your boobs will begin to produce more because your body thinks you need more. which you obviously do because you want to pump. There will be enouh for her when she is ready to eat. Its kinda a supply and demand tye of thing. Good luck
