I will be 37 weeks tomorrow and the doc still has not suggested the group b test. I go in for an ultrasound a week from today to check the growth of baby and position and thing like that. But I am also a High risk pregnancy so maybe that is why he has not done one.

i was and i know of one other person (in real life) who was also its actually common and its not anything you did to get it you just carry it. if you have it you need to go to hospital as soon as you go into labor so they can give you an intibiotic so it doesnt transfer to the baby. strep b can get into there mouth and eyes and make them sick. so i do suggest everyone gets the test just so you know to move your preggo ass quickly to the hospital or take ur time  

I think just GBS @ around 35 weeks. I had a shit load of blood tests run, but that was just for me.

one of my friends didnt get the strep b test done with one and her baby got it which causes some respiratory problems at birth...Ask your doc

Its not bad all he did to me was put a swab in my vagina and said it might hurt a little...It wasnt bad and they said they'd call if it was positive. I"m at 32wks btw.

They take a swab and swab your vagina and right around your bum to test to see if there's a certain bacteria which isn't all that harmful to us adults, but is dangerous for newborn babies. All that happens is that if you test positive, then they'll give you an IV of antibiotics when you're giving birth.

Ive had a baby before and I have never heard of this haha. Could it be earlier on in the pregnancy too because I remeber them telling me I had a bacteria infection and they gave me meds for it but I kept forgetting to take them so I just stopped. Is that probley the same one? I mean this was really early in the pregnancy like at 10 weeks or so.

mmm i dont know. maybe you had a yeast infection or UTI. but deff ask about it because if your planning on doing a vaginal birth you should get it checked out becuase it can go into the babys mouth eyes throat and cause problems not serious problems but still you dont want a sick baby the first day you meet them. so just ask to be on the safe side.

No like she said it was likely UTI or yeast infection. They don't give medication for Group B strep during the pregnancy only during labor because it can be passed on to the baby.
You doctor likely did it during one of your last vaginal checks before you gave birth. There's really no reason for a doctor not to do it.

Ya for a strep test they really do swab your butt.
They use the same thing they use to swab your vagina.
It doesn't hurt it just is kinda uncomfortable.
In fact for me, the one in the vagina hurts more than the butt.
