oh yeah they did it everyday I was there but it didn't really hurt much....maybe cuz I had some good meds? I found the most annoying thing to be the big pads, then the stingy feeling of the stitches a few days later but it all was worth it! No one prepared me for the blood after but I was so curious of waht it looked like down there at like 8 days PP i took a hand mirror and looked and it was not that bad actually I was shocked and happy!

Just a heads up... when (if) you deliver vaginally, chances are, you'll tear.

There are 7 things that will be your lifesaver...

1. A squirt bottle (not the hairspray type... but more like this *Peri-Bottle*

2. *Doggy* Pads (those big blue pads they put on the bed... you will use that as a second line of protection....)

3. OVERNIGHT Pads (or hospital pads... whichever you prefer)

4. MESH UNDIES! Dont even bother with cute undies! lol... you will bleed through and ruin them. It is guaranteed. If you like something with a little more *support*... get like... 3 sizes bigger grama fruit of the loom panties. LOL.

5. TUCKS/Witch Hazel Pads

6. WARM tap water... because cold water on stitches is never fun!

7. ADVIL/TYLENOL/Your drug of choice.... because we all need a little pain relieved every once in awhile! LOL

INSTRUCTIONS>>>> (LOL)

Fill up Peri-bottle with warm water BEFORE you sit down to change/pee. (you dont know how many times I had to ask my husband to do this simple task for me... lol)
Throw away all old dirty items...
Rinse away all blood with peri-bottle
Spread inner lips (lol... sorry... just trying to get things healed as quick as you can!) and fold tucks pad in half, and stick right on the stitches. (this will help with itching/burning/healing!)
Put on Overnight pad
Fold doggy pad 3 times hot dog style (fold in left side a little over halfway, fold over right side a little over half way, wrap that pad from belly button to mid back)
Put on Mesh Undies
Throw away all evidence of the *murder scene* lol.... 'cuz there will be bloody stuff EVERYWHERE.

And last but not least, wash yo' hands, and jump back in bed to catch some ZzZzZzZ's! =)

I bled for about 4 weeks and then spotted some and got my first PP period I think at like 8 weeks. I think it differs from person to person. I think the icky blood was maybe like 5 days and then it was like a heavy period after that. I guess having stitches down there too made it all just gross feeling but if you have had heavy periods (like me as well) I think you can handle it!

I bled reallly heavily in the hospital. After about the first 5 days, it turned into lighter bleeding with the random gush of chunkage. (eew, I know) And then spotted on and off fora few weeks. I'd say I bled for about 4 weeks.

Also... not everybody tears, so don't get too worked up about that. It CAN happen, but it's not a guarantee.   The peri bottle and Tucks pads are still wonderful to help with swelling and such, though!

The bleeding differs depending on the person. I bled for 2-3 weeks. Then got my period 6 week postpartum even though I was exclusively breastfeeding.

My period was heavy only for about 3 days, then it got lighter and lighter. The day after I got home from the hospital, I passed a clot the size of my daughter's head so make sure you walk around and keep yourself moving so the blood doesn't clot.

ETA: Also the tearing, I wouldn't have torn, everything went fine but my daughter came out with her right arm above her head so her arm was what tore me. I only had one second degree tear though and it healed perfectly.

I bled for 3 months straight after I delivered. Then I got off the mini-pill (prescribed at 6 weeks PP, although I was already non-stop bleeding)... and literally the next day... the bleeding stopped.

As I was cleaning up my room to leave the hospital, I passed a clot the size of a softball... despite all of the horrific pushing on the stomach.

I have had regular periods from months 4-6 PP, except for these last 2 months... still no sign of aunt flo. It may be because Natty is going through a growth spurt?! I dunno... but 2 PTs later... still only one pink line.

Every body is different.... and it sucks. LOL. If only we had the answers to everyones problems!!!!!! Life would be great

after my son came out, my doctor pushed on my stomach for what seems like FOREVER getting the placenta out. that was THE worst part of delivery for me. Getting my son out was a piece of cake compared to that. It was SOOOOO painful having them push on my stomach. They had to give me a pain shot just for that. I was screaming in pain. Them stitching me up & everything was okay, but getting the placenta out was a BITCH!

I had my baby at home. I decided I didn't want to deliver the placenta until 2 hours after the baby was born. After 2 hours, my midwife said I really needed to try to push it out. I was afraid of how it would feel coming out after labor, but it was FINE.

My experience is gonna be different from yours, just like everyone's is different...but I must say I really feel for you ladies who didn't get to decide when you wanted to deliver the placenta, and you actually had people pushing on your belly right after you had your baby. That is no bueno. Stuff like this is why I didn't want to mess with the hospital.
