The sleeping is normal for this age.

What is giving you the impression you dont have enough milk? The supplementing will actually make your supply decrease.

Your milk production will increase if you stop supplementing. It's all supply and demand. If the baby demands the milk, your breasts will produce and supply it. But if the baby is getting formula, it's not being demanded... therefore your body is using that signal to lower your production. Just keep nursing. And nursing often is very normal, if that's why you're thinking you don't have enough milk.

Just feed him whenever he wants to eat. Your body will get used to it. If you are exclusively pumping, pump every 2 hrs at least and until you see no more milk come out and then 5 minutes after that.

QUIT SUPPLEMENTING!!
your supply will totally dry up! and every time he sucks on you, it tells your body to produce more milk..he should be getting enough.
what makes you think he doesnt?

Definitely try to stay away from the formula, that will only hurt your supply.

The best thing you can do is just keep him on the boobs constantly. The more they are stimulated, the more you will produce. It's normal to feel as though you're not producing "enough" at this point, because new babies are designed to eat every hour or two.
That doesn't mean you don't have enough. BM is very easily digested and goes right through them, so frequent hunger is expected.
If you want to keep up the breastfeeding, I would throw away your formula, get comfy in a chair with lots of water and snacks and breastfeed like there's no tomorrow!
Just find some good movies to watch, that's what I did in the early days when it seemed all I did was nurse

I breast pumpand the reason I feel like I am not getting enough I only produce like 1- 1 1/2 oz per sit at the pump. He eats the breast milk then takes a whole supply bottle along with another half I try to get him to latch but he cant he tries then starts screaming

A pump isn't as effective at getting milk out as the baby, so it's not always a good indicator of how much you're producing.
It sounds like you need to go to the hospital and visit a lactation consultant. You need someone to help you get your baby latched on, so that he can nurse more frequently and get your supply up.
I would encourage you to do this sooner rather than later, because the sooner you get these issues worked out, the better chance you have of continuing to breastfeed.

do you feed him on demand? I only get about an ounce when I pump, but my LO eats about every hour and she's gaining weight just fine.
you could try a nippleshieldfor latching problems, they work wonders!!

also, does when he's BFing does he unlatch and then cry like he's still hungry? or does he unlatch and then he's fine for a while?

It took my son and I a few weeks to figure out a good latch and position. He would thrash and scream and it made the whole process realllly difficult. Try nursing before your baby starts crying in hunger. It may be easier to work on the latch when baby is calm, not already hungry, KWIM? And don't get upset, it takes a lot of practice!

Have you thought about using a supplemental feeder? they work great when you need to get extra fluids into the baby. It holds the milk(like a bottle would) and has a tube that attaches to your nipple so when you put the baby on the breast they are still getting the food they need while stimulating your body to produce more milk.

If you qualify for WIC, they will give you one for free. Otherwise, talk to a lactation consultant or your pediatrician.

Good luck!

You can't determine your supply by how much you pump. A lot of womens' breasts are pump-resistant.

You need to try to put him on the breast as often as possible. If you can, get a supplemental feeder and use it for ALL of your feedings.

Have you seen a lactation consultant?

My boobs hate the pump. Lol. I can pump for an hour and only get 2 oz but put Phoenix on the boob directly and he'd get 8 oz in 5 minutes.

Pumps SUCK!

Thanks! Those things are a godsend for moms that have to supplement.
