Stripping membranes.

posted 2nd Nov
I was reading up on stripping membranes. And I was wondering what some of your experiences with it were. When you went into labor? How far after was your LO born? If it worked? If it hurt? Anything you can tell me. Thanks!

I had mine done at 41.5 weeks, it made me bleed and I was cramping afterward. I went into labor a few hours later.

Did the cramping hurt a lot? Or was it like a contraction?

My OB was stripping my membranes both times, without my knowledge.
The first time, I went into labor the next day.
The second time, I went into labor about a month later.

Worked for me. I was 39 weeks and 5-6 cm. Not painful but very uncomfortable. Probably not as painful since I was quite dilated. Stripped at 3pm labor started just after midnight so 9 hours.

I had mine done twice. First time my cervix was still pointing towards my derriθre so it hurt alot! on the other hand i thought i was being checked not stripped so it surprised me! i had a big drop in my blood pressure from it and started blacking out. Then I had bleeding and cramping. The second time they tried it was much easier... my cervix was facing forward plus i knew what to expect so i relaxed (as much as one can in that situation) cramping and bleeding again.but......

I wen to 5 days overdue.  i think your body goes into labour when it wants to

I had it done twice. The first time it didn't hurt and nothing happened except i cramped a little and spotted for a few hours. Then, it was done again at 40 weeks and it hurt pretty bad! I think my doctor just went to town. lol She kept going and going. I'm not gonna complain though because i went into labor the next morning.

Did you have pain afterwards or just while it was being done?
