Cats and babies

posted 2nd Nov
We have a cat in the house an he is very jealous and has to be the center of attention and with me about to have my baby in about a week or two I am concerned about some things, I have heard of cats killing baby's and stuff and I was wondering if I need to be worried or aware of anything? and also he has gotten in the baby's vibrating chair does that mean I need to wash it and he has also gotten in her car seat?

nah as long as he's not rolling in poop it's okay if he gets on stuff, as long as you don't mind the hair. And yeah, its probably not the BEST if he's trying to sleep with her, but the cats killing babies thing is really an urban legend/wives tale kinda thing. So I wouldn't worry, at all.

Cats can smother babies when they are sleeping, because babies are nice and warm. Just don't ever leave them alone together.

I don't think the cat will kill her. However, my in-laws cat jumped out from under a table and attacked my 13 month old. My daughter was standing there just jibber jabbering away and boom out comes the cat.

put tin foil in all of the baby tings he can jump into. I'm just letting my baby pet our cats now and shes 8 months. and im really careful she doesnt hurt them im afraid of them swatting at her. And my cats are very nice never bit me or scratched but i just dont want to take a chance. they havent seen many children in their lives you know? I dont alow my cats into the bedrooms anymore though i dont believe cats kill babies.

My cat was jealous of my daughter. When I walked by him, he would attack my legs while latching on and breaking skin.

I also woke up to him crawling on thop of the baby one night.

He is now with a family member.

If your cat is clean i wouldn't worry too much about cleaning the things... unless there is heaps of fur... maybe just roll some sticky roll stuff over it to pick up the fur. Jusrt make sure if your not in the room with bub, that the cat isn't there either... I've heard of cats sleeping on top of the baby (coz it's nice and warm) and suffocating the baby.

When I was pregnant my Ob told me that was true. He said you have to think cats have the same instincts as lions and tigers. If they feel threatened he said they will sit on a babies chest and suffocate them.
