re: First time flying ever, and flying with a baby?

As my hubby says.... They can intruct us all they want but we will handle our baby how we feel is safest IF there is need for an emergency landing. And comparing it to a car was pretty lame I must say! A plane is meant for safer travel and they wouldn't allow us to have our babies lap if they thought it were too unsafe. In a car it is ILLEGAL to have an infant without a car seat OBVIOUSLY its not in a plane or we would all be arrested and the airlines would get in big trouble!

Well I guess its just a differance of opion... but I wouldn't fly without my child being as safe as possable... its not like your forced to fly in the first place; you choose to fly and you choose to put your child at risk... IMO.... but what I say isn't going to change your mind; like I said I was just responding to the OP about the safety!

I've never heard of anyone being charged for the carseat or the stroller being gate checked. I am under the impression BOTH are free when you're traveling with a child. I brought a carry on and a diaper bag. If you have a diaper bag that slings over your shoulder & back, I would recommend that because otherwise you're going to be constantly pulling it back up onto your shoulder. If you can afford it, and don't already have one, try and get a smaller stroller if you're using a travel system. It was so much easier to do everything because you have to send the stroller through the security xray.

I don't think we'll be taking our stroller cuz we are only gonna be gone for like 3 days and don't plan on doing too much cuz we can't afford too much. We just need our carseat cuz our hotel is quite aways from the airport and stadium

I've never heard of that airline, hmm..

I'm sure they give you free gate check on car seats though. You may even get lucky and get an open seat & be able to use the car seat.

It'll probably be busy, but not nearly as busy as Christmas time, I think. When I flew in July, the planes were empty, out of the 4 planes I was on, 3 had an empty seat next to me. The other plane had an empty seat, but it was elsewhere on the plane so I couldn't set my daughter down.

So you didn't buy her a ticket then? Just had her as a lap baby? I woulda bought him a ticket but we had to borrow money from my brother in law just for our tickets lol

Nope, I didn't buy her a ticket. I had flown from Indianapolis to Chicago which was about an hour in total from taxiing to landing, and then from Chicago to Springfield, Missouri which was about an hour & a half or so (then back that same way). The only one where she didn't have an empty seat was the first flight from IN to CHI. She spent a lot of time looking out the window, so if you can, request to have a window seat.

Oh we made sure we're first boarding so we can all be together cuz I HAVE to sit by a window. I hate flying and sitting by the window makes me feel better lol I think our flight is only a couple hours and I found out we are flying frontier

I've never flown that one. Usually with kids you board with teh first round of passengers which I LOVE! I hate having to try and walk through everyone with a diaper bag & a child and deal with that all while being pushed & shoved.
