breasts itching...

so i posted earlier about them being so tender. i am 3 weeks pp and unfortunately still BFing... It hurts to even lift my arms. And now they are itchy all over...

A mama mentioned that it sounded like i had thrush earlier. is the itching a part of thrush? or do i have a whole other problem going on?

Mastitis? Are they hot w/ red streaks?

thrush. yup. get it while it is in the itching stage... i didn't get mine in time and here i am almost 4 months PP and i STILL have it!

you can get a cream from your doc, get drops for the baby's mouth too. if you want to do something NOW, go get some OTC yeast infection cream or an anti fungal like Lotriman.

yeah i am planning on calling in the morning i didn't make it in time this morning to get a same day.   . this i do believe is going to be the proverbial straw that broke the camels back for me and breastfeeding

i dunno.   if its not one thing its another. first it was the never ending engorgement, then the cracked and raw nip, now this... i have to nurse every single hour, i can't go anywhere b/c i suck at this and can't feed her in public, daniel hates it when she nurses and freaks out. i have, i kid you not, had 7 hours of sleep in.... well now in over 72 hours. *sighs* its just not worth it all.

that's what everyone keeps saying. . . but its only gone from bad to worse, and more painful as it keeps going

I had issues for SIX long weeks. First cracked nipples to the point of bleeding, then mastitis..twice. The antibiotics gave us 3 weeks of thrush and it was WORSE than labor. No joke. Gentian Violet didnt work, medicine and creams dont work so dont waste time, I got some pills from our doctor and had to take them for 21 days, and they kicked it. You have to boil everything that touches YOUR breasts or baby's mouth (bottles, pump, bras, shirts, binkies) every single day or it will come back\

we are 12 weeks going strong now   I love it. I wouldnt change it for the universe. It is sooo worth it. Im very proud of myself. All of it would've been for nothing had I of quit. Thrush usually is the ending point for many moms when it comes to bfing.

Do you want to quit or is it because of the trush? Because if it's left untreated it will get worse and move into your ducts. And quitting bfing will not make the thrush go away. You still need to treat it. In you AND baby. Nystatin for baby and meds for you. Gentian violet works 90% of the time in 72 hours. Its purple and stains but worth it.
