re: With Twins??

Why would you get annoyed with it? I'm not trying to say that it's easy, or simple. If you want to know the honest truth, i want twins because my body can only deal with one more pregnancy, and i have always dreamed of having 3 children. I talked to my dr about what would happen if i had twins, and he said (medically) i would be treated the same high risk as last time, and that with my problems, it wouldn't be any different than if i was pregnant with one.

I'm not saying it because "OMG i wanna dress my kids alike" or anything like that...i've been told 1 more is all i get, and i would love to prove the drs wrong.

I hope you get them then. I don't get annoyed with all the questions or anything, although I hear that complaint all the time....But I always think "What about the babies?" when people seek out multiple births...

I always wanted twins before I had them, but once I found out I was having twins that shared a placenta, it was terrifying. When you hear that your babies have a 75% chance of being ok, that 25% weighs on your mind. When they tell you that your babies will most likely be born early, or when you end up on bedrest for 5 months, unable to take care of all your other children...These are the realities of twin pregnancy that people who just "want twins" are unprepared for. Then there is the high rate of ppd in mom's of multiples, the high rate of divorce in parents of multiples, the high cost of the NICU...

I love my babies to death and they are a miracle, but I feel guilty every day that I can't do the things that I did for my singletons for them.

I think this is why twin mom's grow weary of hearing people say "I wish I had twins..."

In a situation like yours I totally understand though, and I hope that you get what you want.

People who say they want twins don't say it for any reason other than attention based. Plain and simple.

Everyone that sees me out with my girls always says one of the following "I have always wanted twins" or " I hope I have twins with my next pregnancy".

They don't realize what it takes for me to get both children ready and out the door on time. It can be a 45 min ordeal.Forget grocery shopping with twin infants. You have no where to put them.

Now on to a twin pregnancy. I was one of the fortunate ones. I had a near perfect pregnancy. Other than the appointments ever 2 weeks, the several u/s to make sure things were progressing properly, the tests that never ended. My body handled twins better than most womens and Istarted to go into renal and liver failure just before they were born. If you have had high risk pregnancies in the past a set of multiples would only double your risk. The risk for prematurebirth more than doubles with a set of multiples being carried by a woman with previous pregnancy trouble. I am not sure what Dr told you that it would be the same. You have no idea what the actual risks are.

That andHollywood has made twins the newest trend!

I honestly hope that she has one more sucessful pregnancy but I do not wish her twins. I fear that they may be too much for her if she is only allowed one more pregnancy (that I question because most dr's would say NO more before they give the go ahead for one more but anyway..). I would worry about her health. Should something go wrong who is going to care for that little angel she has right now?

Well, I wish her a successful twin pregnancy if that is what she wants, or two more successful singleton pregnancies. I just want people to be able to have the kids that they want to have

I completely understand where you are coming from. My problem is with high blood pressure & a problem with my spinal fluid. My dr told me that he seriously recommends only 1 more pregnancy, with my daughter (before they knew what how to help it) my bp was always in the 180s, i was passing out, alot of problems, at one point they thought they were going to have to take her at 26wks. Luckily i was able to hold out all the way until my due date.
When i went in for my 6 week i asked what the risks would be with another pregnancy and he told me that they would be the same as last time (ob once a month, perinatal every other week, bedrest from 12-32 weeks) and thats when i asked about twins, and he said there would be the normal risk that came with any multiples, but that it would probably be safer for them than if i didn't have pre existing conditions just because they would be moitored more closely.
Like i said, it's just something that i would feel very blessed to have. But no matter what, i beat the odds and got my beautiful little girl, and i'm thankful for that no matter what.
BTW your LOs are too cute. =)

Thank you very much.
2 more seprate pregnancies is ideally what i would love ((despite a high risk pregnancy, i LOVED being pregnant))
We will just have to wait and see. I thought i was pregnant on Halloween. But it seems my cycle is just playing with me now. Stupid body!

A very good friend of mine is expecting twins right now. She had a great pregnancy with her son. A hard one with BP issues with her daughter. She has been having high blood pressure issues (not quite toxima sp) at this point but she has also been dealing with preterm labor. She has hadthe steriod shot to help mature the lungs of the twins because they aren't going to make it to their due date. She will be lucky to make it to 34 weeks with them. Multiples are rough on your body. I am so sorry that you had a rough pregnancy with your little girl. I surley do hope that you have at least one more pregnancy and that it is eaiser on you than the last.

thanks! They crack me up. lol
