My Labor Story...finally!

posted 2nd Nov
So I know I am a little late on this but here goes:

On Monday, October 5th around 2:30 AM I started having timeable BH's and what felt like slight period cramps in my back....I kept timing them until about 5:00 AM (they were about 8-10 mins apart) and decided that I should get ready to go into L&D to get checked. I was supposed to have a doctor's appt that day at 9 to get checked and schedule my induction for that week, but I did not want to wait until then in case things progressed quickly. So I took a shower and got pretty (lol) then went into L&D. The nurse hooked me up to monitors for about an hour and then my doctor came in and checked me...I was STILL not dilating or effacing and my contractions were getting irregular so he told me to go walk around the hospital and come back to get checked again in two hours. So I walked the stairs and the halls, then went back to get checked....still no progress whatsoever so he prescribed me an Ambien and told me to go home and rest and to come back Wednesday night at 10 to get induced. Well, I thought it was a false alarm....BOY WAS I WRONG!!!
So I go home, get my Ambien, take it, and the whole time my contractions are getting stronger but are still like8 mins apart....so I try to lay down and get some sleep. There is no possible way to sleep through that shit, lol. The contractions get stronger so I have to get up and walk around. Then I sat in a warm bath which helped a tiny bit, but I was still in alot of pain. So I get out and tell my mom that there is no fucking way I am waiting until Wednesday and that I need to go back to L&D. Wellllllll by that time my Ambien is starting to REALLY fuck me up. I was totally out of it and on the way to the hospital I was hallucinating. I couldn't even see straight. So all I remember from there is getting hooked up to the monitors again and suffering through my back labor. I have no idea what time I got admitted into a room, but I believe it was around 5 PM. So after that I just remember getting my IV's and my mom beating on my back EVERY time a contraction came....I had back labor from hell and my thighs were burning sooooobad. So finally I got my epi...I have no idea what time it was. I was sooooo out of it from the Ambien andlack of sleep. I didn't even feel the epi. It was amazing. After thatI just remember getting my cathedar and talking to a couple of family members and friends. Then when I was finally dilated 10 cms and my water bag was bulging, about to break, the nurse checked me again and found a limb instead of a head....she had flipped at the last minute  Two more nurses rushed in and checked to make sure then while the third nurse was checking, my water broke and it had meconium in it. So theygot my doctor who informed me that I would immediately be going in for a c-section....so of course, I started bawling bc I was scared to death because I was worried the baby would have meconium in her lungs and of course I was scared tohave a c-section and I hadREALLY wanted to have her vaginally. So ten minutes later I wasbeing numbed up and sliced open...I was shaking so hard the whole time. At first I was terrified I wouldnt be numbed enough bc my right side was taking longer to numb than my left. Everything turned out fine though. My mom was an angel and kept me calm. The c-section didn't take long at all and about 20 minutes laterI saw my sweetheart for the first time....she came out in the splits position and had the hiccups   She was born at 2:07 AM on October 6th after almost 24 hours of labor and a c-section, 7lbs and 19inches. So after that they stitched me up and knocked me outcold. I woke up in recovery an hour or two later, and all I remember is saying that my right side of my incision was burning really bad. Then the nurse started pressing on my stomach and I wanted to punch her in the face....it hurt so freaking bad. I don't rememberbeing wheeledback to my room or holding my daughter for the first time because I was so damn drugged up Butafter that it was great. I kept her in my room the whole time, shewas doing great nursing, andall was well. I got to go home early because I was doing so well after I got up and walked around. The nurse and my mom were surprised at how well I did at getting out of the bed and taking a shower. I was just really shaky from the meds andsuch. So overall, I had a pretty goodlabor experience...the only thing I wanted differently would be to remember the first time I held her.

CONGRATS again on having your Beautiful Baby Girl! I know I done sent you a Message when you first had her, but thought I would tell ya again

And LMAO! those Ambiens WILL mess you up huh?! I know my Grandma used to get them prescribed to her for Sleep Aid and well I used to get Trazadone prescribed to me but they never helped so my Grandma gave me one of her Ambiens one time and OMG! I was like you, I started tripping out and hallucinating and stuff LOL. I know I was knocked out like 10 minutes IF THAT after I took it...them things DOES do the job to put you to sleep, but if you don't go to sleep right away they will make you feel weird and see shit LOL.

But it sounds like you had a pretty good Labor and Delivery (even though you ended up having a C-Section) but atleast your Baby was healthy, thats all that matters   I know I was always scared I would end up having to have a C-Section with my kids (THANK GOD I didnt) but now I am afraid I will have to have one with this one for some reason. I just dont like the thought of being AWAKE while they are cutting you open ya know? I mean even though you can't FEEL it you KNOW they are and OMG I would freak out!...they would have to knock me out COMPLETELY to do one on me probably LOL. And thats crazy you had her on her Due Date....I had my daughter on her Due Date too.

But CONGRATS again...And you need to post some recent pics when you have the time, I bet she is getting SO big and I know she is Gorgeous - the pics you posted of her a while back she is an absolute DOLL! You did good Mama! Take Care of You & that Beautiful Girl of Yours

Congrats. That sounds like a long and VERY eventful labor! I don't know how you did it with the Ambien girl . I took one of those years ago and I was hallucinating like you said, but seeing really scary shit. I can't imagine being on that during childbirth. Stupid people at L&D. poor you. It's all worth it tho right?

It was sooooo worth it even though I wanted to murder my doctor for thinking that I wasnt in true labor and sending me home, but I guess there was no way for him to really know! LOL.....I never want to take an Ambien again! Haha
