Which was the worst/most painful?

posted 2nd Nov
Bob doesn't usually admit to being scared, but shit, I am TERRIFIED of giving birth. Terrified. To make things worse, I've been watching episodes of A Baby Story and that's only making me dread it even more. So... what was the worst part for you? Almost everybody I talk to about it sugarcoats it and says things like "Oh, it wasn't that bad..." BULLSHIT! You're pushing something the size of a watermelon out a hole the size of a dime! (Or getting your abdomen cut open)

So which was the most painful?

IV.

But.

See... the reason people say it's not so bad AFTER... is you honestly do forget the pain. I don't remember the pain of the contractions. But I do know at the time they were much worse than the IV.

But I remember the IV and how much it bloody sucked.

CONTRACTIONS!

I think the epi needle hurt my boyfriend more than it hurt me, lol. He hates needles. I was just like, "HURRY UP."

Dear god.. the contractions.
Pushing the baby out actually made everything feel better lol.

I didn't have an epidural either. When I pushed it kind of felt like relief.

With my first, it was the epi. I had an incompetent anesthetist. It was worse than the entire surgery and recovery after, heh.

With the second? None of it was bad, really. It was a planned c-section, so I was relaxed and knew what to expect, and I have a fairly high pain tolerance for that sort of pain. Vaginal would have been a lot more painful for me, I suspect.

heh

Gfdklgjkdf. I've got a good while to go so hopefully I'll get all of my panicking out of my system. I'm mostly scared of actually pushing the baby out and needing an episiotomy/tearing. I hope everything goes well for you!

I had an emergency c-section so don't know about pushing the baby out...but contractions were the worst for me! I labored at home for over a day and when I finally got admitted to the hospital I was 5 cm..thank goodness! The epidural was awesome! I didn't feel any pain with it.

Oh and checking for dilation when you're not dilated comes a close second...LOL

recovery was a piece of cake!

I need to be able to select two. Pushing the baby out and the episitomy. I had back labor and it sucked, but I have broken my tailbone before so my contractions weren't the worst pain I've ever felt in my life like people had told me they would be. Honestly, neither was delivery but it did hurt really bad. The episitomy was the gift that kept on giving though...it hurt soooo bad afterwards. But, I know everyone says this, you won't remember it and it will so be worth it. I promise.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about that. That was quite unpleasant.
