posted 2nd Nov
Hmm.. I figured I'd post this here so I might get more answers.

How old was your child when you transitioned them to a toddler bed?

TIA

I was going to wait until my son climbed out of his crib or was potty training exclusively but I got back together with my husband and so when we flew out here we had to get him a toddler bed. We just got it a week ago, and he's 20 months.

My son is 26 months and still in his crib - only because he doesn't try climbing out.

We just bought his toddler bed because we have a new baby on the way so we'll transition him soon.

My daughter was about 2 and a few months ...it took a while for her to get used to it - well i should say for her to stay in it!! We tried it for a few weeks and put the bars on the crib back up because she was up all night. Now she sleeps in it at night time and I have no problems but she takes a nap in a play pen because she doesnt like to take a nap and she gets up and runs around the room.

My son was 18 months old when I switched him, he fell out a couple times at first but now he does really good and he seems to sleep better in the bed then he did in his crib.

I have a 17 month old and I am waiting til she is about 2 or when she tries to climb out. Whichever happens first. I see no reason to rush it. I don't think it would be nearly as easy to get her to sleep if she knew she could get out of her bed. There are a few moms I know that around this age have already, one because she has a newborn now too. I think it is really just a personal decision.

My son was 3 1/2
my daughter was about 20 months (and I still feel she's too young to be in a toddler bed)
my youngest will stay in a crib until 3-4 unless she climbs out before then.
