so scaredd

so I'm 20 weeks pregnant and went in for my second sonogram where they said they see something white or light in the intestines which might be down syndrome or abnormal chromosomes. I or the father have no down syndrome in our family so ppl say i shouldnt worry much. But lately i have gone in to a major depression. should i be to worried about what the doctors said? any one had a similar situation?

I have down syndrome in my family and I got tested for it before I took my ultrasound to see it my son had it. I had reason to worry.

how did they test for it?

are they gonna give you another ultra sound ?

A chromosome disorders just happen you dont have to have it in your family

yeah im scheduled for another one in 2 weeks but i think i'll go crazy by then

im sorry. im 23 weeks and Easton has some extra fluid on his kidneys. so they scheduled me for another ultra sound in about 3 weeks. if the doctor and nurse didnt seem too worried about it then i wouldnt be either. at first when she said something to me about his kidneys i freaked out, but she really assured me about it so now i feel 10 times better.

if they told you this, ahve they scheduled any other tests? my baby had a fetal echo which can be a sign of down syndrome but when we got checked we were told I didn't even need a bloodtest or any other tests because the chances of it were so low. it's really only high if you're middle aged or so.
I don't know about chromosome disorders but if they haven't given you any others tests I wouldn't worry..

Did you have a quad-screen/AFP around 13 weeks? (I think that is when it is usually given)

I would think that if there were something urgently wrong, they would have scheduled you for more invasive testing (Level II u/s; amnio, etc..).

Praying everything is okay  

Usually they can check for down syndrome in the scan by the thickness of the skin on the back of the neck, or if the ears or the pink finger is too small... the skin on the back of the neck is a big clue.

see thats the thing my results just came in from that test and my ob said everything was negative.

im not sure but i did get a test where they drew blood from me that tested the babys spine or something, and they said evrything was negative

That is probably the quad screen test, then. I would think that would rule out downs. Hope you get some answers soon!

Nothing came out of the baby's spine, that could result in miscarriage. 
It just tested your blood.
