Whats the longest you've heard it taking someone to get their milk in? Its been 4 days since I had my baby and it's STILL not in, I HAVE to supplement which I DO NOT want to do until it comes in and I'm terrified he will get nipple confusion. Is there anything I can do to get it to come in ? I don't understand why it's not here   Any thoughts?

Thanks Ladies

It took me a few days but if you supplement it will make it worse. Just put him to the boob as much and as long as he likes.Stop supplementing for a few days and see if that helps, which it should.

My good friend had a scheduled c section and her's didn't come in until 5 days pp. Hang in there. You're offering your breast right?? I would offer your breast allow LO to nurse (colustrum, stimulation) and THEN offer a bottle. xoxo

Mine came in the fourth day after my son was born. I woke up and my boobs were bolt-ons.

I would suggest not supplementing. Just let the baby nurse as often as (he/she?) wants to. Also, pump in between feedings...I had to bc I was diabetic and it takes longer for diabetic moms to get milk (or so they said) and it definitely helped. Good luck mama!

you need to keep trying to breastfeed because that is how your body knows to make milk... just keep trying to give the boob as much as you can.. good luck!

Yeah the thing is hes lost 10% of his body weight and my pediatrician said we HAVE to supplement or else he goes back to the hospital   I do both sides for 10 minutes and then give him an oz of formula but now it's getting hard to get him to latch. I guess he wasn't getting enough so he lost a ton of weight, which scared me. My boobs are full and the colostrum is not so thick anymore it's kinda like milk but its just not enough for him. I feel like i'm failing him

I recommend keeping him on the boob no matter what. If you've already given him a bottle I'm sure he'll have nipple confusion. If you keep him on the boob then your milk should come in soon but with supplementing, it's only making it worse

It's actually normal for babys to lose 5-10% of their body weight after birth..

I know thats what my mom said but I feel like if I dont' give him formula he won't gain any weight and go back to the hospital. I'm praying so hard that it comes in today so I can stop with the formula. Thanks everyone . If it doesn't come in tomorrow or today I don't know what i'm gonna do

Just nurse him only. You are going to take longer to get your milk in by giving him a bottle. If you have a pump then pump after he eats to tell your body you need the milk.
