re: Do you celebrate Thanksgiving?

posted 2nd Nov
I've been looking forward to it for MONTHS. We don't do much on my side of the family but it's great at my husband's. His Grandparents host it, and aunts and uncles, cousins, and everybodie goes. I looooove it.

We celebrate but it has no significance to us other than being able to get together and eat like crazy.

I am part American Indian and I celebrate it.

Honestly the only meaning it has to me is getting together with family and eating yummy food and having a nice time seeing each other.

We don't celebrate it for its normal meaning. I think its ridiculous for me, as a Native American, to celebrate the stealing of myancestor's land.

However, I think it is possible to enjoy the festivities without the history. We use it as a day to give thanks to God for our blessings that year. Which we do everyday, so the only difference is the turkey. lol

ETA: I edited this post to make it make sense since my brain is not working at the moment. lol

We celebrate.
Hubby makes a salsa turkey, which is absolutely FANTASTIC. I have never liked T-Day turkeys until he made a salsa turkey. OMG.
If you've never had one, you should try it sometime. AMAZING, seriously.
