concerned about my son,dr isnt helping!

posted 1st Nov
my son was born 7 weeks premature he's 2 and a half months old now and he's not keeping any of his food down. ive been to the drs several times the first time he said it might be a blockage the second time he said hes just eating way to fast ( thats when my son stopped having bowl movements) the 3rd time he switched his formula to soy formula which seems to be worse b/c he is throwing up twice as more.- by throwing up i mean projectile vomitting the entire bottle he just ate and which the soy it seemed like he was vomitting up 2 bottle feeds in a row. idk what to do for the poor boy.he is gaining weight though. he's almost 10pounds. oh and when he vomits it comes out his nose..ughh.. im going to make an appointment tomorrow again and say hey look theres something wrong with this baby and u gotta do something about it. has anyone had this happen before? should i be concerned about it coming out of his nose? i need advise. i wanna get referred to a specialist if my dr would listen to whats wrong with my kid..please help!

MAKE your doctor listen. Tell them you demand some answers. Make sure to keep the nose suction around in case he gets choked with it coming out of his nose.
Poor baby   I hope he gets better soon.

Tell your dr to refer you to a gastroenterologist.

its really not worth the money i paid 20$ for it. i went to clean it out and it stopped having a suction. so it was a waste the only thing i liked about it was it had music that played and it really calmed down my son

Sounds like reflux. Next feeding: feed him sitting up. Half way through his bottle stop and burp him. MAKE SURE HE BURPS! Feed him the rest of his feeding and burp him again. After his feeding keep him sitting straight up for an hour or more. Repeat with the next feeding! PM ME IF IT WORKS.

My son was doing the EXACT same thing and the DR told me to do this. She told me that he has Reflux.

Zane hasn't Projectile Vomited in almost 3 weeks! It really works. Turns out I didn't have to change his formula.

He was preemie also. The dr told me that babys born early often have Reflux because their digestive system doesn't develop completely.

My boy vomits a lot... I know it's not much comfort, but it looks like more coming up than it really is, and if he is gaining weight a lot of doctors feel like that's all that matters.

I got told that he was eating too much at a time and to make sure he burps, keep him upright while feeding, and keep him upright an hour after as well. To get him to burp I hold him up so his feet are dangling for about 15 seconds and then pat his back. He's still vomiting, but not nearly as bad and he's gaining weight like crazy.

Try what I told you first! Don't give him that yet! I would SOOOO change his doctor. The dude sounds like he doesn't know anything. If it doesn't work then try what the DR gave him.

my 1st daughter has a milk protein allergy, and soy made it worse. SHe projectiled everything we put her on a special formula (pregestimil) she was a 35 weeker, now shes almost 3.

Leikyn was a 30 weeker and she had refluxx she is also on a sensitive formula but at the begining we did 1 tsp f oatmeal to every ounce of formula. The oatmeal also helped her poop. Rice cereal will bind them up. If you have any questions you can pm me.

Bella was born at 29 weeks and we had the same problem. She has a milk protein allergy and horrible relux. We switched her to Nutramagin formula, give Zantac twice a day, and add 1 tsp of rice cereal to her bottle. You also need to try to keep him upright while he is eating, burp after 3 ozs, and keep him upright for at least 30 mins after he eats. We also have to elevate Bella's head when she is sleeping.

I would demand your doctor do something. We had to go to the GI doctors three times and had to have numerous test done on Bella to figure out what her problem was. She would projectile at least 10 times a day and cry all the time for no apparent reason. Once we did everything I mentioned above she is always super happy.
