phytochemicals released into breastmilk.

posted 1st Nov
I have a question.
First off my dad is switching his membership from the YMCA to a new place. They have a daycare and he is going to put me on his family plan
I haven't been able to workout other than taking my LO on walks. I am so excited!
Well here's the thing. When I start to work out, like hard core actually work out other than walking, I lose a lot of weight and I lose it fast.
A few years ago I went from 120 to 110 in one week. The only reason was because I started swimming.
I read that if you lose too much weight too quickly while breastfeeding that you an release phytochemicals into your breastmilk.
How much would be too much, too quickly??

Phytochemicals? The chemicals found in plants that give them their color? Lol.

I could be wrong but I think as long as your body is getting plenty of fuel (good foods) then losing weight is fine. I had a drastic pp weight loss and went from 205 (when i delivered) down to 140 in a matter of 3-4 months. My daughter was breastfed the whole time and is just fine.

Nevermind, thats not exactly what they are, but your body doesnt make phytochemicals, they occur in plants, they are good for you.

lol............
I am such a nerd.
Well it starts with a P.
All I know is that if you lose weight too rapidly toxins can enter the milk.

hmm ok so if I lose like 20 pounds in a month I shouldn't be concerned???
egh I just don't want those darn toxins to hurt my baby!

The only thing I know that your body releases when you exercise is lactic acid, and it wont harm the baby, just possibly cause the milk to turn sour.
