I would have deff. gotten it for my little one too, if he was school age. If it is offered to us at the pedi, I may get it for my son. Did your baby get the vaccine, or will he get it?

I'm really sorry to hear that about your friend's husband. Is he improving? I feel the same way as you about the vaccine. They do say that the virus is losing its potentcy along the way, but I still don't want my son to get H1N1.

He will get it. The only one available right now is for school aged kids and adults. The shot should be in this month...but since he just finished his seasonal flu series last month he can't get it until after the 17th of November.

If i had achild with any under-lying medical condition I'd get it as she would be at significant risk. My LO is not in daycare and has only had one mild cold in her 11 months of life so we are waiting a little. we may get it at some point if it looks like kids are doing fine after it and if the spread gets much worse in kids.

Usually you can just sign a statement if you don't do vaccines saying some blah blah blah stuff about the school isn't responsible if they get sick or whatever. If I'm not mistaken that is.

Hey, just to let you know, my brother who was vaccinated 3 weeks ago still contracted H1N1. So the vaccine was not much help in his case. And for me, this makes me not want to get it even more. I do not want to risk my life or my child's when the risk I will be taking does not definitely protect me from this virus.

How old is he? Children under 10 need two doses and it takes 3-4 weeks to become effective so it does nto surprise me it did not help...also as with any vaccine there is always a chance that a you can still contract the virus/disease but it is generally not as bad as it would have been without the vaccine..and if you would do the research you would know that this vaccine is not risking a child's life...anymore so than any other flu vaccine...if you feel that geting the seasonal flu vaccine is risking a child's life then that is your perrogative...but anyone who has done reserach would know that unles there is an allergy to eggs or any other ingredient in the vaccine this would not be the case 99.99995 of the time. i just spent a few days in the pediatric until with my baby, not for the flu, and the amoutn fo kids htere with the swine flu/flu was scary...a whole wing of the children's hospital was just for that...a whole frickin wing.

My brother is 30 years old. There is a lot of research, it is all conflicting. But most of all, there has not been enough time spent testing this vaccine. We have not seen the long term affects. I spoke with my daughter's pedi office today about their vaccines and they told me there are no preservatives in all their vaccines except for their flu vaccines. And this is why my daughter's pedi will not be giving it to her own children. But your views are yours and mine are mine. I respect yours, but mine are different.

I respect your views...just this vaccine is not any "newer" then the seasonal flu vaccine...so the two should be held in equal light...i respect any parents choice when they are trying to do right by their child...

On a sadder note....I just went through my 6 year olds back pack and a 9 nine year old boy died last week. it was confirmed it was H1N1. So sad and I feel so bad for his family.

Thanks

I would not give my child the regular flu vaccine either.

Oh my goodness! Poor boy! That is really sad! His poor family! :-(
