my room is the coldest room in the house

posted 1st Nov
i live in a nice two bedroom home. and my whole house is nice, warm and cozy.. until u enter my bedroom. In my bedroom, i have a huge sliding glass door that opens up to my backyard. & attached to the sliding glass door is my doggie door (so my dogs can go out when they want). Its not the doggie door that is making the room colder.. its just the big glass door.

My baby girl is due Jan 7th and its going to be super cold.. i already know it. And of course she will be sleeping in her bassinett in my room with me and my husband for the first couple of months. I cant really afford those extra heavy duty "keep all coldness out" curtains. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep the cold out thats is affordable?

you could get winterizing plastic. I used that when I used to live in Michigan. Just tape it around the door. I got one of those curtains for Luke's room at Wal-Mart though for only 16.99. It keeps his room cool (we live in FL) when the sun is scorching hot everywhere else. It wasn't too much.

I would also look in to the plastic and just cut then tape it around the dogs door. I baby sat for a single father (and my family used to rent this house as well) and it had these really really old windows that would make the whole house very cold so he would use the plastic on all the windows and in his sons room tin foil then the plastic. not sure what the tin foil did. but it really did help.
