Question.. wondering if anyone knows what this could be..

posted 1st Nov
Ok my son just turned 4 and im wondering if any mamas have answers for me. I have been to a couple of GI specialists for this but they keep telling me its just "toddler diarreah" and he will grow out of it. I go through 5 or 6 liquid diarreah diapers each day since he was born. Hes maybe had 2 or 3 solid bms his whole life.At age one hewas tested for Celeic Disease and Cystic Fibrosis and both were negetive. But i was reading somewhere that sometimes u can get a false negetive if the child hasnt eaten enough gluton in his life. Is this true?? I cant seem to find a decent dr that will run the tests needed.. like a colonscopy or whatever just to ease my mind that theres nothing intestinaly wrong with him. He also has some behavior problems that need to be adressed as well and i didnt know if that had to do with anything. Anyone have any idea on what could be causing this??

He could have a gluten allergy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try giving him Gluten free products and see if that helps!

I have terrible IBS and a Gluten Allergy that triggers it.

"Toddler diarrhea"???? what idiots. that does not sound normal at all to me. I would do like someone else said, remove the gluten.
But you would think a GI specialist would be able to tell you something more...that sucks, sorry mama! Hope you find something out!

If it is Krohns disease, removing the gluten will help also.

Gluten causes so many problems in our body....

I don't know what to tell you, other than you are your child's only advocate. If you feel like something is not right, then take him from one doctor to the next until you feel satisfied with the help/answers you've received

Yea thats what i was told the last time by a dr i thought was good. We drove almost 2 hours to this dr and he felt his stomach and looked down his throat and that was it. i was like uhh wtf?? And then he tells me that even if he were to have 10 a day that would still be on the normal end!!

I was thinking the same thing. Crohn's seems to fit.

I agree.. I have crohn's and I haven't had a solid bowel movement since god knows when.

OP, try an extremely bland diet with him.. banana's, rice, apple sauce and toast and see if this helps any.

Yea, my friends ex had Crohn's, but he didn't take care of it and wondered why he had all the problems he did...of course, he ate very sugary, fatty things all the time.

There are so many things I can't eat.. I started getting symptoms when I was 12-13 but didn't get a diagnosis until I was 20 so I had to learn how to keep it in check with my diet alone. I miss so many things, but I can't risk eating them.. especially now since I'm off my medications to be able to breastfeed my son. I have to be super careful because I can't afford to have a flare up.

I have been having the same issues sort of with my 2 year old son. He is a very picky eater often will only eat three bites of any one thing or meal, has shiny poop and though its not often runny its either loose or very soft AND IT STINKS .... so bad as though something died in his diaper and the kids can smell him in the other room when he poops most of the time. He was tested for celiac ( blood) thyroid issues and anemia and we found out he is anemic and slowly coming up with supplements however the celiac panel bothered me because it was negative but he has a lot of the symptoms . With that said he was sweat tested twice to check for CF and neither time yeilded a single drop of sweat for the test.... so i am waiting on results from the fecal fat testing to see if he has pancreatic insufficiency which will unlock the doors to dna testing .... im concerned that its celiac tho because i heard the blood testing isnt reliable under the age of three .... im pushing for the small intestine biopsy .... apologies for this being so long however I was told by the dr not to change his diet and go gluten free till he has been diagnosed with it or not because going gluten free can bung up the results and prolong a celiac diagnosis.I totally recommend a dietician concult if you havent already seen one . Matts got his first appointment on the 17 and i cant wait.
