He fell face first on the concrete

posted 1st Nov
me and my son were playing outside and as he was coming out the door he tripped and fell flat on his face on the concrete. He now has a giant red mark from his forehead to his eye and little spots where its bleeding under the skin. There is no bump yet, but my question is what is the bump to tell if it might be a concussion?? is it outward or a inward bump?? He seems fine and is playing like nothing ever happend.

He just fell, like every other kid. I'm sure he'll be fine. Poor guy.

An outward bump is a good thing, or so a nurse told me. It relieves pressure off the brain by swelling outward.

A bump has nothing to do with a concussion. A concussion is basically a bruis on the brain when it sustains an impact into the skull. There doesn't need to be outward trauma, if the brain collided with the skull (no way to tell) he could have a concussion.

My daughter was running on the pavement once and I didn't manage to stop her before she took a dive face first, the damage was evident and looked rather bad, I think as long as he's his normal self and neither nauseous nor 'out of it', he's just fine

The brain can swell through the skull? That's news to me.

As long as he doesn't throw up, seem lethargic he's probably just fine momma. xoxoxo

You can get swelling ON the brain, or you can swell OFF the brain on the outside of the skull.

He's probably fine. At least he doesn't have a nose bleed. My Hunter was playing on this bounchy ball one dayand his stupid therapist didn't GRAB him as he was falling and fell right on his face onto the CARPET and busted his nose...
