What do you mean we want a mile? We want our whole constitutional right of freedom of religion?? elaborate.

I think I've already stated this before but since the convo has geared back to it, I'll say it again just to join. I don't think anyone should be told that they can't pray in public as long as they're not pushing their religion on others. When I was in school, there were students who held a prayer group in the courtyard area and it didn't bother me because they were keeping to themselves and doing their thing. Don't come at me trying to recruit me to join your religion or acting as if I'm doomed for not being a Christian and I won't have a problem if you want to pray in the same vicinity as me. Whatever, not hurting me, better things to worry about. I guess it's a mutual respect kind of thing.

Yes, I have the same issue. Call me bitter for growing up next to crazy rabid Christians, but the whole notion of their religion just makes me cringe. Like, I'm a Satanist through and through, but your not going to catch me telling someone off just because they are christian and your not going to find me handing out pamphlets either.

That is what I am saying. When I was in school, we used to do prayer at the pole. We would pray around the flag pole at school for that school year. We didn't try to directly recruit/convert anyone, hand out anything. If someone wanted to ask us about it, then we would talk. I don't think in anyway we were infringing on anyones rights being in a circle praying. That is like saying the clique of girls in the corner all huddled talking about this boy, or that slut is infringing on someoneelse'srights.

See, this is what people get up in arms about. I completely agree with you. You SHOULD be able to do what you and and just because you are ALLOWED TO does not mean your taking anything from me. Whatever, the more rights they want to hand out, thats fine by me.

I am aChristian, and since you obviously wouldn't want a hand out, or to be talked to aboutChristianity, I wouldn't talk to you about it either.

Exactly, and thats the way it should be. I'm not going to bash you for your beliefs as long as you keep your nose out of mine. Just because someone has the right to believe something does not take away your right to believe what you want. It just means more options for us all.

Yeah, you can talk about freedom of religion all you want, but just try to chant or cast spells before a football game at a public school in America.....let me know how that turns out for you.

haha, I just wouldn't pay attention. If someone wants to chant or cast a spell with some of their friends, then it is their right. It's freedom of religion. Just like it is my right to pray with some people if I want.. .just like if a clique of girls wants to huddle up and talk about a boy it's their right. Don't like it? Don't pay attention.

Well, maybe you wouldn't personally, but a public school in the bible belt? I promise you those kids would be crucified, and run out of school. How's that for a double standard?

What do you mean...... are you saying that kids get away with praying in school, but kids who want to cast spells don't get away with it? I am pretty sure there were some people inhigh schoolwhere I went who considered themselves wiccan/witches.

I feel the same way. I don't care who prays where as long as they don't expect/want/try to get me to join in, if that's not my thing.

Just as much as I don't expect anyone to want me to go around preaching about evolution, I don't expect people to want me to listen to them preaching about whatever they are into.

They did that at my school too. It didn't bother me because they kept to themselves in their group. They never handed out pamphlets or what not.

However, back up in Georgia, where I went to high school, they tried to get kids to pray at pep rallies and such, and if we didn't cast our eyes down, we got in trouble.

I remember getting in trouble for checking out a White Magic pagan search engine for a school project. The search engine was the only time I ever found the info I needed, so I used it. (Looked up the meanings behind certain scents and colors of candles, that's all. I'm not even pagan lol)
Well, my teacher got VERY upset with me, called me out in front of class to tell me to get off my "witch" site because it offended others. Then said it was demonic   I was like, "I'll get off my 'witch' site when (names of kids here) get off their Christian sites." (Several kids were on christian sites looking for things for their project)

Of course, I got sent to the administrator for it.
My administrator stuck up for me and took care of it and I used that search engine.
