Appropriateness isn't really the issue for me, I just think they lack originality, and it's kind of lame that Halloween turned into an excuse for women to look like whores.

Depends.

Adults wearing them to an adult party? Sure, why not.

Teens wearing them to look like whorebags? No.

I saw several girls under the age of 16 last night wearing some skanky ass costumes..

One was wearing super high heels with a short short skirt and low cut shirt being a "cat".
Another was in above-the-knee patent leather boots with a patent leather mini skirt and top and was Bat Girl...

Yuck.

Underage Pre-teen skanks. Barf.

For grown women it's fine. For kids, definitely not.

I saw a 6 year old wearing this last night:

My child would NEVER wear this!

Depends on who is wearing them, and where they are going.

I got chewed out once for saying that I thought it was inappropriate to wear a skanky costume to take their child trick or treating.

And you know their parents are more than likely buying them their costumes. I would never in my life buy my daughter and slutty skanky halloween costume. Thats just giving them the a-okay to dress skanky all the time IMO

I agree it all depends! Lats night we took our son to our church's Halloween fest and it's all geared for younger kids and what not. Well there were teenage girls in some of the most skimpy Halloween outfits! First off at church and then around all the little kids for no reason? It annoyed me!

that's actually what inspires this...i passed out candy last night and this chick shows up dressed like a dominatrix while taking her four year old trick or treating.

This was a huge problem with me last night.
I saw at least 10 mothers dressed in adult costumes (like what you'd find in sex shops) taking their kids trick-or-treating. I made my displeasure known too. It is completely inappropriate to take your child trick-or-treating wearing that. Not only is it disrespectful to you but it's disrespectful to the other parents who would rather their children not see it.

But if you're going to a party that's 18+ then I see absolutely no problem with it. The party is 18 or 21+ for a reason.

I've never worn a skimpy costume. I think if I were going to be inside all day, in my own home... sure! But I don't think it's appropriate for trick or treating... or when you're around a bunch of little kids. The last time I actually dressed up for Halloween I was 11, & in 5th grade.
