He got made fun of yesterday!

posted 1st Nov
My youngest son is One. He was a skeleton yesterday for Halloween. We thought it would play well with whats wrong with his legs. The whole day is going perfectly. This is his first "real" Halloween where he could go door to door say thank you and somewhat understand the concept of getting the candy. His first Halloween he was only 7 months old. So as were walking home, I see my sister pull up and I sit there to talk to her with my youngest sleeping in the stroller.. My husband is playing with my younger sister and My husbands sister is running after her son and my oldest. So as I standing there I tell my husband to go and bring the kids in. He does and his sister helps him. Im standing with my sister still and she has my youngest son. Two guys come out of the apartment next to us, sees my son running and the main guy was like "I think you need to keep him off those horses" And he galloped like a horse. I looked at him and was like "Thanks, my son has a disability" He looked back and was like "what". I said "My son has something wrong with his legs, he has a disability". My sister said the same thing to him after me and said your ignorant for making fun of a little kid.

So my husbands sister comes out and is like whats wrong. I tell her and shes keeps making remarks at them for making fun of a one year old. Calling them assholes and that they need to shut their fucking mouths. Now my sister is law is no more than 100lbs and no taller than 5'3''. The guy that made fun of my son had to be roughly 250ish lbs and at least 6'. She went face to face with him telling him off. I see her hiking her pant legs up and roughing up her jacket getting heated so I tell my sister to go get my husband. She does and I tell him to run and get Crystal (his sister). The whole time the guy is saying he didnt mean it in a bad way, that he works with people with disabilities and he didnt know my son was bowed legged, and that his parents are disabled. My husband is getting the guys to walk away and my sister is pulling his sister back. And the whole time shes talking shit saying dont fuck with my family, dont fuck with my nephew. And the guy was like "do you even know who I am" My sister in law laughed and said "do you fucking know who I am bitch?" It took roughly ten minutes for this whole thing to calm down. And I was standing a house away with my daughter in the stoller holding my son crying. Once it all ends my husband looks at me and is like dont let his dumb drunk remarks hurt you. We got the kids in bed and The whole night I was fucked. And earlier that day I was telling my husband that Im glad that were getting his legs fixed at this point in time because we can cover his legs with pants since its cold. And that I dont want him to be made fun of.

In another week, my husband has to take him back to the hospital (I think) to get his braces. He has to wear leg braces till he turns Two in March. And then we have to take x-rays and if the braces dont help his legs, he needs surgery.

But why do people think that they have to make fun of someone, ESPECIALLY, a little kid to make themselves feel better? Not everyone can have the best health and perfect bones. I cant stand when little kids or anyone for that matter get made fun of or are the butt of everyones jokes when they cant help that they have a disability! It hurt me so bad to hear what he said. If I had only went inside the house or kept my son in my arms, he wouldnt have been the butt of that cruel mans joke.

And the best part of it all... My husbands uncle owns the building we live in AND the building that the asshole lives in. Its two apartment buildings in one gate. And now people know why I dont like interacting with assholes like him. I keep to myself to prevent things like this happening!

Here are a few pictures from yesterday.
Isaiah [my oldest] was Handy Manny.
Noah [my youngest son] was a Skeleton.
Autumn [my daughter] was Princess Aurora. {her middle name is Aurora, so it was only right to dress her up as her!}

Pictures of Noah.Just some of yesterday to show you his legs.

The last picture is basically what they seen. He doesnt walk any different then someone without bowed legs. The only time he has a different in it is when he runs. His feet go everywhere which causes him to fall every few feet and how penguins walk... thats how he runs but he actually runs.

What do you say to someone like that though? What is it that I could have done or said to make him feel like a lowlife and make him feel bad for what he did?

That's awful...the whole thing. I can't believe some people. I think I would just ignore them...

It's not the same exactly, but some teenagers were making fun of my 2 year old in Target a couple months ago, because of his name...I seriously wanted to go all grumpy old woman on them and cuss them out right there. But then I realized that my kids need to know that people like that are just stupid and ignorant, and that they don't have any effect on them. I felt like saying something to them would have shown that the DID have an effect, kwim?

Omg, that seriously made me cry :[ What a jackass.

The only thing you can do is say something like "Actually he has a disability, so thank you for making fun of him and ruining the night of fun". Just make him feel like a dick, but don't let him get the best of you.

It might really have been innocent, and because your worried about him getting made fun of, and its a subjectt your sensitive about, may have made it seem worse.
If they apologized, than I think theres nothing you really can do. All you can do is inform people about the condition to make them less ignorant.
Im sorry that your night was ruined because of it.

Some people just need to put other people down, even children, to feel good.

He's absolutely adorable and that those who make fun of his disability aren't worth a single breath.

they are all so cute, unfortunately some people don't think before words come out of their mouths, no he probably didn't mean it to be rude, but why say it then?

sadly i would have done the same thing for my nephews i watched and help them kids grow up if it came down to it and i had to i'd probably kill for them and my daughter, so i know where your SIL is coming from.

I'm kind of in shock, to be honest. Even if that guy didn't mean to be an ass, what kind of person says anything about a child. Goodness knows I've met people like that, but I'm still surprised everytime I hear things like this.

Your son is cute, and his costume is too. I'd get his legs fixed too were he my child because it would benefit him, but never because of what others would think. I know it's easier said than done, but don't let stupid fucks like that bother you.

And I love your other son and daughter's costumes too! You have adorable children.
