I don't think the polling is fair since the first 2 choices is what the SO "should" and the 3rd is what you would "want".

I think it should be old fashioned the guy should pick it out and everything, being as he is the one buying it, and surprising the girl with popping the question. That's what mine did with me. I had a suspcion something was off the whole day, he was acting sooo weird beforehand!

I mean, I don't really see how its unfair. Maybe the third choice should have been "My SO SHOULD let me pick out my own ring" ? It is the same thing lol

My husband and I would go look at em everytime we went to the mall. He knew which kind I wanted, and that's the kind he got me, exactly lol! I didn't know he was going to propose so it was still a surprise, but it was with the ring I wanted so it was just perfect!

I didnt want any input on my ring. My hubs went and picked it out (with his mom, gag) and even though it would'nt have been a style I would've liked if I had gone out on my own, I still like it because its from my husband.
Kinda like when your kids make you ugly macaroni necklaces, they want you to wear it, so you do and you love it because its from them.  

I don't plan on marriage. Not for me. But if the though crossed his mind I'm sure he'd have a hell of a time considering I HATE jewelery and the only thing I ever wear is my Dad's wedding ring. lol

What someone should do and what you would want them to do is the same thing? I should save money and cook dinner at home doesn't mean I want to.
