Do not put his name on the birth certificate, but if you do this then you will never be able to get any court ordered child support.

You could give custody to your parents right away.

DON'T put him on the birth certificate/have him sign a declaration of paternity and it'll be a much longer process for him....
And file for full custody right away.

File a police report every time he touches you so that you have it against him if he ever wants to take you to court for custody. But first & foremost, leave him.

ETA: I meant so you have IT against him, not me. Haha Although I will come kick his butt if you want me too.

The next time he lays a hand on you, file a police report and a restraining order, this will show a pattern of abuse if he ever tries to take it to court.

The others have said to leave him off the birth certificate, while that makes it a longer fight for him to obtain rights, it also makes it a longer fight for you to get child support from him.

My advice would be to file for sole custody, with supervised access and child support as soon as the child is born. In your application, state that supervised access is required because of a history of mental and physical abuse.

Break up with him, and don't put anyone on the birth certificate. If he tries to get near you or the baby you can file a restraining order and/or just take him to court saying you want to file for full custody. You can call the cops now and file something against him to keep him away from you and the baby when she's born. File something with the police for the abuse.

He can request a paternity test and you will have to comply.

It's self defense. It can't be used against you at all.

By not filing a police report, it can be dangerous to your baby specially if he is jerking you around and such. I'd file a report, asap! & I think it would just be taken as protecting yourself.
