Only a matter of time...

Before people would start on me. I refuse to get the swine flu vaccine - or ANY vaccine - while pregnant. The swine flu is just the flu with a different name and high media coverage. My little sister is sick with what my parents think might be the flu, my step-dad is taking her to the hospital right now, and my mom called my grandma to have my grandma bitch at me for not getting the vaccine. I just got told that I am selfish, ignorant, and putting my child at risk because I don't want to get it. I told them people die from the regular flu every day but nobody is aware of it because it's not all over the media... which is true. So my grandma goes "That's fine, put your baby in harm's way. Real responsible." and hung up on me. I am not about to be a fucking guinea pig for a vaccine, nobody knows how this could effect babies in the womb yet. Ugh, I am so pissed off. I do not need to get told that I am already an irresponsible mother just because I don't want to get a new vaccine.
People are so damn irritating.

I agree, it is all new and I dont think it has been tested enough , who knows what could happen down the road, it hasnt been around long enough.

I totally agree with you! And just think, if it DID end up hurting your baby now, or even if the effects don't show for years, I'm sure they would just yell at you for that. I'm sorry mama, it seems like you just can't win.

Brittany, I totally agree with you on this. I have a friend that had the vaccine and she's pregnant and then got sick from it and I said something like "you're crazy for getting the vaccine, you dont know the long-term affects, or how it will affect your daughter" and her response was "im doing what i have to do to protect my family, im sure they've done the long-term tests, the shot wouldnt be out if they didnt". WHAT... HOW do we know the long-term affects if the swine flu just reared it's head? Anyway, it's the dumb, uneducated people who are going to suffer, not you. Your Mom (from your last post) sounds like a bitch anyway. Just ignore them. You're doing the right thing for you and your daughter.

I felt the same exact way & unfortunetly just caught the swine flu from my little brother on Thursday night the symptoms started, horrible cough, vomiting, cold/heat sweats, high fever. Called my OB friday morning & he prescribed me to the medicine for it [take it twice a day for 5 days]. Started taking it friday morning & this morning[sat] when I woke up felt a whole lot better. It's the stupid ignorant people who won't call their doctors & get help that are having to be hospitalized or dying. If you start to feel sick call the doc & stay hydrated & food in your system, you'll be fine.
