The guy that I'm dating just got back from Iraq and he said he missed the cookies he had there. Not really sure what kind they were, but I would kind of like to surprise him by making some (if I can hah) ... but I was wondering if anyone had any recipes??? Thanks!

My husband is kurdish (from south turkey) But the problem is here is that these people is big on desserts and sweet things so to be honest i wouldnt have a clue what bisuits he is talking about can he tell you what they are called by any chance?? maybe i can ask my husband if he knows of them??? xx

Yeah actually a good number of their sweets are less sweet than what we're used to in the states..

Perhaps try your hand at some baklava? There's loads of different kind over here. They love to use walnuts and pistachios especially.

I wanted to make it a complete surprise, but I suppose I'll try asking him. Hah, would make it easier to find a recipe.

My husband is Syrian. It's right next door from Iraq!Basically same cuisine.Are they pistaciso like? Maybe dates?

Here's a recipe. I don't know if this is what he wants. It's a very traditional recipe. Sometimes they're called Ghoraiybah.
