*WARNING! Pics MIGHT be a little graphic in nature and my labor story is really LONG so prepare yourself!*
After being nearly 2 weeks PP I finally have time to post my labor story!
The morning of 10-18 I had a little bit of light blood streaking in my underwear but nothing else.
Later that night around 8pm I had just finished eating a chicken strip basket from Sonic (like literally JUST finished) when the contractions started. They started like sharp, stabbing, punched in the stomach type of contractions but nothing too painful to handle, so I waited to call my husband home from work. Well... 30 minutes passed and I noticed that the contractions had a definite pattern of 5-7 minutes apart, though still not really painful IMHO,they were definitely getting more consistant and intense. I then called my husband to come home from work to sit with me to make sure that they weren't BH again.
When Jeff came home he made sure that all of our bags were ready and he helped me time them, still a steady 5-7 minutes. I was originally going to wait to go to the hospital until they got closer together but several strong contractions came that brought me to the floor, so we went to the hospital.
By the time we got there it was already around 11pm. I was checked and was 70% and 1cm, so they hooked me up to the moniters and waited to see if I progressed any with the contractions. After around an hour or so, the nurse, Blanca (one of the BEST nurses EVER!) came back in and checked me again and said that I had not progressed and that the doctor would be in to see me in a while. Well... we waited a while and the doctor came in and checked me again with STILL no progression. He mentioned the possibility of sending me home but decided that since the contractions were coming so consistantly that he was going to have me hooked to an IV to make sure that they weren't dehydration based.
(me waiting to see if they were going to keep me or not... pre-IV)
I was hooked to the IV at around 2am. My husband and I tried to sleep, thinking this was just false labor again but the contractions kept getting stronger and closer together. At 6:30ish when the doctor came in to check on me again I had progressed to a 2 1/2 and my contractions were 3 1/2 to 4 minutes apart. They decided that since I was in labor that they would keep me so I was given a bracelet and my water was broken to speed it up since I had technically been in labor for nearly 12 hours already. This was around 7am and they gave me Pitocin within 30 minutes.
(me around 9 or 10 am after Pitocin and I realized that she was really coming!)
The Pitocin contractions were indeed stronger but still nothing I couldn't handle, even when they were 1 1/2 minutes apart (which they were by 9:30ish)..
I got checked again around 1pm and I was a 3 and 85% so it was still just a waiting game... and the Pitocin was upped and I still wanted no pain meds, even though by this time I was really starting to feel the tightening and pain.
Here is me through some of the stages of my labor...
(This was around 1 or 2pm when I was really starting to feel the pain)
(me by around 3-4ish, I think... they were getting stronger by the time my hair went up)
(I was hurting by then... this was 5-6ish, I think... I was a 4 by then)
(somewhere around 6 or 7pm... it wasn't pretty by then... but still no meds!)
After around 8pm, the doctor came in and told me that I had been a 4 since around 2pm and that the tensing that I was doing during the contractions was not helping me dilate.. and that I needed something to calm me down. He knew I wanted a natural labor and delivery so he suggested Nubaine. I took it.. but only a quarter dose. I still felt everything as I had before but it made me sleepy and able to rest somewhat.... so I don't even consider the Nubaine as an active part of my labor..
(me after the Nubaine.... sleeping.. finally! I only got around 20 minutes of sleep but when I was awake during that time, I still felt all of the contractions as strong as I had before the medication....)
Come 9pm and I was checked again... no progress from the 4 and the doctor had discovered that my daughters head was stuck up against my pelvic bone because it was too narrow, and too much longer would result in fetal distress. Our families and us were horrified and I started crying because I didn't want to have a csection...
I was prepped for surgery almost immediately... and my husband got ready to take my side in the OR.
I got my spinal (which I liked) and my daughter was delivered at exactly 10:30pm on October 19th, 2009.

(my husband getting ready...)

(me prepped for surgery)

(my husband watching me as I try to relax as I am cut)
(my daughter's head is out and at this point.. nothing else...)
(and there she is!)

(my husband cutting the cord)
(my daughter....)
(my husband beside me as I see her held up for the first time...)

(She is so beautiful...)

(My precious baby)
(my husband holding her for the first time)

(Jeff holding her close so I can see her)

(I'll never forget seeing her and touching her for the first time)
(her father loves her so very much)
(and when he went to the nursery he got the ultimate souvineer.. her footprints on his scrub top)
my first time to hold her when she was 4 hours old...
me the morning after surgery...
my daughter
My family... and yes, I know, she looks just like her daddy
Soo... In the end I had 26 hours of labor which I consider all of it to be pain med free and a csection. And she was worth every single second of it!
