what am i doing wrong?(breastfeeding mommas help!)

i've been breastfeeding my newborn since day one, and have ample milk supply. the lac. consult. said she was lacthing on great, and eating good, but when i give her my right side, i just want to cry! it's less painful just to pump, than it is to feed her. my left side is sore, but it is much much better to feed her on that side.
the tops of my nipples are raw pink..... i want to make this work, but DAMN........
and like i said it's really just my right side. breastfeeding is supposed to be enjoyable, not torture...... and yes i know the first 2 weeks suck the most, but on only one side?

IDK   I produce more milk out of my right than my left. They never hurt past two weeks though unless he chomps down really hard.

Argh rotten kids!! ANyway

I ahd the same problem with my DD...turns out she was a biter. There were even time that I was bleeding she'd chomp down she hard. Latching on was good but jeebus...it was hell. Try nipple shields!

could be thrush..... does the baby have a white film on the tongue?

thrush is a possibility. and it doesnt always need to be present in the baby.
if your nipple is bright red and shiny, its very well possible that YOU could have thrush.

Try using another position. That could very well help. Also when she is latched on, try pushing up her top lip a little and then pulling down on the bottom lip a little to try to see if she has enough of the areola in her mouth.
For your nipples, make sure that you aren't washing them with to harsh a soap, and use lansinoh and cold gel packs in your bra.

Isaac prefers and does better on right side. If you have all purpose nipple ointment use that! i dont know that it can completely cure u if thrush is the problem but i know it helps with that and it makes u have zero pain when used . If you dont have it u can prob call ur ob gyn and then can get it for you. Dont get discouraged! i thought it wouldnt get better because i was in pain for 7-8 weeks pp.. and i was like DANG its never gonna get better because they say you should only be in pain the first couple- its not true for everyone! around 2 2 1/2 months it got much better! Does she have a clamp down reflex?

my son appeared to have this, it went away on its own at about 2 1/2 months or so ..hes still got a great latch but doesnt BITE like he did.. ALSO big other reason why i was sore was because i would soak through nursing pads , i didnt think that would be the reason but it really contriputed ..it wasnt untill i started using playtex nursing pads that it got better..and the BEST pads which i use now, super absorbant and keep u nice and dry are avent! Which u can get at target i believe. and remember to try to air dry your nipples as much as possible i know when i heard that i was like? i got places to go etc. but i would fall asleep nursing so they would end up air dryed lol and that helps
