If you BF

How long does your newborn nurse?

Camden will nurse for a hour or more or just how ever long I will let him. That seems like a long time to me, but I couldn't with my first so I am new to this.

Also I am FF && BF..

Last night he ate a full 4 oz bottle... He was just born Tuesday evening. Does it seem like a lot for a newborn?

When he eats he will eat a 2 oz bottle then clear out one boob & half to all of the other... In one sitting.

When Phia was born I BF and FF, she would eat a 2 oz bottle from the time she was born like nothing!

Then she would go to my boobs for about 15 to 20 minutes, never got to an hour!

You have a hungry little one on your hands !

if you plan on BFing you should hold off on formula for a few weeks. pump if you want him to use bottles but inorderto get your supply regular you need to put himto the breast as often as possible.
but to answer your question he is probably cluster feeding. they do that, its part of their growth spurts

Bailey would eat up to 40 minutes at a time but now she will only go for about 10-15 mins every 2-3 hours. At least Once a day she will stay on for about 30-40 mins though.

I FF for the 1st 2 weeks so when I started BF she would eat for 2 hours sometimes. I let her go as long as she would go in order to get my supply in but the formula is getting her a lot fuller so she's trying to get that from the breast milk. Try to just breast feed for a little before you incorporate formula, maybe just a bottle before bed to keep her fuller longer? Good luck mama stay patient BF is very time consuming in the beginning but it get's better

I am incorporating formula cause I have extra sensitive nipples always have. they are bad enough that (before pregnancy) they would ache from just my shirt rubbing against them. If I go full time I'm afraid I will want to stop completely. as of right now I cringe & tense up just from doing it half time.

Thank you! I have been breastfeeding first then when it gets to the point I just cant take it anymore I finish off with a bottle. It has seemed to be working alot better then BF one time then FF the next.

It is normal for the first 2-3 weeks of bfing to have EXTREMELY sore nipples. it takes ALOT of determination not to give up on it. The first 2 weeks I wanted to chop my nipples off they hurt so bad. best thing to do is get you some gel nipple discs (theyre like a silicone disc that you put in your bra to soothe the ache) lansinoh nipple cream, and breast milk. put the milk on your nipples and let it dry before putting your clothes over them. it helps to heal any skin that is inflamed, torn, or scabbed. It hurts for almost everyone. If youre supplementing with formula its likely that your supply will slow or possibly stop.
But its your choice and i wish you the best of luck!!
