I am soo scared! Hirschsprung's Disease?

I am sooo scared cause the doctor said she wants to test Chloe for Hirschsprung's Disease and I read up on it and she has all the symptoms. If she has this disease she will have to have surgery to remove a part/all of her large intestine so that she will be able to live a normal life. The only thing is she will have to eat more than a regular person to provide her body the nutrients she needs and to keep hydrated! Please pray for my daughter. She has a long hard road ahead of her..but I want her to live as normal of a life as possible. I will not treat her any different!! On top of maybe having this disease, she is deaf in her right ear.   Does anyone on BG have a child with this disease that can talk to me and give me advice and input about what will probably happen and some of their experiences? My nephews little brother has is, he was diagnosed with it at 2.5months old, had surgery at 3months and they removed 1/2 of his large intestine, he is now 7 and doing great, he has to eat about two to three time the normal calories of others, but other than that, he is great, and hasn't been constipated since his surgery, hasn't had any bowel problems really.

did the doctor's tell your family the risks of surgery and the chances of survival through the surgery.

I'd have to ask my nephews mom, I don't know what all they told them, I do know it seemed like a fairly easy decision for them to make though. But when I talk to my brother tomorrow, I'll ask him to ask her and I'll let you know.

My cousin had a blockage at birth and they had to remove part of his large and small instestine. Most kids at that time ended up with colostomy bags but he was lucky. Hes 13 now and has no issues. There are certain foods he has to watch b/c he cant handle them but hes a normal healthy teenager.

I know its not exactly what your baby has but its similar. Good Luck and stay strong!
