Quoting *Mrz. Brianna*:“ IDK.. while pregnant i got a pap result back as having HPV. then, they did this painful test where they ... [snip!] ... sample of skin from in my vag! OWW! colposcopy or something?.. i guess before that i didnt have it, since my paps were normal..”
You could go months or even years without it showing up on a pap smear. Thats why they ask women to get checked regularly because its a virus they dont know too much about. There are over 100 HPV virus' only 4 of which will turn into Genital warts or Cervical Cancer. They dont know which of the 4 turn into which but only patients with those 4 types go on to later have warts or cancer. It takes almost 20-30 years for HPV to develop into full blown warts or cancer. Thats why they can't give me much information about it - They can't just 'test' women who have certain times of it and let it go to see what it turns into, that would be like letting someone get a disease and not taking instant action. So they have to stop it which puts a stop in the learning process about the virus. Ive NEVER had a normal papsmear(6 years)..first guy i had sex with must have given me HPV - 50% of women have some sort of HPV - whether its a contagious and harmful one is what people need to worry about. 1 out of 2 women have it! Men get absolutely no symptoms from it for years so men can have it without even knowing it and pass it to every woman they have sex with. Thats the sad part - its not like other STDs that show signs right away. it lays dormant for years!!!!!!
