re: Preemie weight question

My son was born at 28 weeks and is 7 mths old and a month ago he weighed 13.9 lbs. He is a big guy though. My older son is almost 2 and only weighs 24 lbs. I wouldnt worry about it too much.....your baby knows if he is hungry or not and will let you know. My sons doctors seemed surprised that he is almost 15 lbs already, they told us 15 lbs was a big goal weight because it take premies a long time to get there.

My 28 weeker was 2nd percentile for weight and 50th for height at about 9 months. She's 4 now and is over the 100th percentile for both. Preemies grow on their own time =) He sounds like he's doing great!

Wow, all of you have really helped put my mind at ease. I really thought he was way underweight, but now I see he is doing really good. Thanks again for all of your help and responses!

i'm not a preemie mama, but i just wanted to add that i have an 18 month old daughter who only weighs 20 lbs and is 30 inches. she's in less than the 25th percentile (like the 5th) for both. she was born at 39w2d weighing 6 lbs 11ozs 18.5 inches. i've been told by her pedi that she's just tiny. no health problems, no eating problems  

my daughter is a 30 weeker thats doing amazing she just got her rsv on monday and she was 16 pounds 5 ounces(8th percentile)and 28 inches(48th percentile) oh she was 11 months on the 28th of october.

so sorry todouble post but my other daughter will be 3 on the 30th and she is 25 pounds and 34 inches. she is just tiny and the dr said i make tiny babies. dont worry about your son i am sure he is fine. Gracie was also early(35 weeks) and is advanced in everything.

i also believe that preemies grow at their own rate. my 34 weeker that was four punds is only 6 months, 4 and half adjusted is 19lbs and 26inches long. she just loves to eat

heyy kamari's momm! My lil girl is still small tooborn at 27 weeks and shes only eatting 5 1/2 oz. and very little ceral and fruits. She now weights only 11 pounds shes soo small so if that makes you feel any better. :-D
